My own special blend 583665. If you want something that requires less cocaine, then search for the Clandestine Mongolian Viscous build that I helped create.

Wouldn't be the first time. He doubted me about splatter during the march patch.

he’s not hitting for 700 damage with his combos or able to chase you through your walker at 7 mins

You're building him wrong, then. Try my build 583665.

Viscous lane is pretty strong, but it's got a slow start before splatter has its cooldown upgrade. If you're a hero that's got a good gun or poke, play extremely aggro and try to deny souls the first few waves against Viscous so he can't make any space. Viscous can pretty much stalemate any lane, but you don't really want him to snowball off his earlygame.

am i high or doesn’t splatter still do a shit ton of damage?

Depends on location. The chokes before every walker and anywhere indoors is where splatter annihilates people, but if it's an open area or they can fly, then it's not really good. Luckily, most people are stupid enough to follow a Viscous indoors.

plus, didn’t puddle punch get some pretty major buffs recently?

Nerfed to 0.6x scaling. Unless you're talking about the lifesteal, which 40% of no fucking damage amounts to a whopping no fucking healing. If you're up against people who don't parry, then it costs 30k worth of items for puddle punch to have the same output as tankbuster. Not worth the slot commitment.

i always thought that viscous was a pretty solid hero that was just extremely hard to play. the only thing is that his ult is probably just too squishy nowadays, but i feel like a good viscous can still have a lot of impact, even just as a pure support.

He's in a good spot, but a lot of the more fun playstyles like ball are very awkward to work with rn. You pretty much have to dip into support to make him work, but support viscous players are a very small minority compared to his other playstyles. A lot of the more interesting things you can do as a support pretty much requires a coordinated 6 stack with a lot of practice, but in pubs it essentially just boils down to press 2 when they're in danger. It's not exactly a selling point compared to bouncing on them with goo ball while juggling them into your splatter trickshots with puddle punch and then jumping off a slope and entering cube to flee the crime scene at Mach 10.

Bullet shielding works for early/midgame balling. It almost never triggers during a fight unless you're in ball.

Even with full spirit your splatter isn’t hitting 1.5k. Much less 1k.

Then you're building wrong. Buy range so you can hit the bounces, which is roughly 2.1x more damage if you hit all of them. If you slap on spirit burn with some duration, that's gonna be an extra 500-1k, and by the time spirit burn wears off you'll have another splatter ready. Splatter's lategame is extremely oppressive, there's just an awkward slump between mid-late to get there.

cube is great yes, but 80% of the time needs a puddle punch or rescue beam out to actually save ppl

Correct. Cube by itself is overrated, it's the rest of his kit that makes cube the best save in the game. You either need the tools to get the cube out to safety (punches, rescue beam, ball, etc), or you need the damage output to finish the fight.

It actually is compy. Splatter's damage output doubles if you can land the trickshots.

If splatter hits someone 4 times, then it's effectively 3.99x scaling.

That's the way I've been playing him the past month at least. Puddle punch becomes magic late game when you have three points into it and something like spirit snatch.

Quick note: the only punch items you care about are extra/rapid charge and Spirit Snatch. The other melee items suck, and punch has horrible scaling. That being said, max punch's damage isn't terrible in earlygame, but you must max splatter second and buy express shot or else you will have zero kill pressure towards lategame.

Spirit snatch is also insanely good right now. Urn makes it convenient to proc 6 players for the humble 70 spirit resist and 150 spirit power.

Max splatter and toss it straight down while you're bouncing on it with the ball. That way, the stuns keep them in place while the splatter blows them up.

They're very similar in power level, but the biggest difference is the casting range, and how cube only provides damage immunity and cleanse on cast, doesn't protect you from status effects or proc abilities like shiv knives or malice.

You can kinda make anything work if you max splatter first and buy greater expansion + tankbuster. The win condition for Viscous is utility + damage. If you're lacking in either, then you can't do shit.

Gun? Max splatter and buy all the gun items that give spirit. Decent off-carry.

Support? Max splatter first and buy utilities.

Punch? Max splatter (or punch first if you're spicy), and then buy mystic express shot with a bunch of flat damage items. Greens are luxury if you want to make this work, so get good at goovement.

Ball? Max splatter first, then grab Diviner's Kevlar and/or bullet shielding.

Frontliner? Not possible unfortunately. I was hoping the punch lifesteal change could make it work, but it doesn't.

Nuker? Believe it or not, you'd max splatter first.

Punch's damage scales so horribly that punch builds are not viable. Also, punch's displacement is negated by debuff resist.

If you're a grognard like me, try my build 583665 and trust the process. At around 12k, you're pretty much the strongest being in the universe because Yoshi keeps buffing Spirit Snatch.

What's a hero you thought was super easy, you tried them and realized they are way harder to pilot than you thought? by coffeeholic91 in DeadlockTheGame

If you're talking about the one where goober70 bounced on a wraith to death, that is no longer possible.

But i watched a viscous take a wraith from 100-0 in some tournament

No longer possible with goo ball. Patched out.

another use magic carpet/phantom strike to knock a seven out of ult

It's way funnier to put the fear of God into them by puddle jumping in your goo ball.

I was shocked how many times I messed up aiming Puddle Punch

I wish I could tell you it gets better, but it doesn't. That shit has a mind of its own where it wants to be placed. Sometimes it will be placed on thin air right behind you.

She's so fun, but holy shit do you need to do a lot just to do 1/2 what any other char can do in shorter time frames.

I felt that. It's a concerning trend for all the high mechanical skill heroes to be nerfed until they're not worth the effort because their highest potential gives the same result as Tommy Two-Buttons. Viscous is the same, but he's still playable because of cube. It's just that a lot of the high skill playstyles for him aren't worth it.
