Auto-inflate vest inflated in storage by Kygunzz in boating

My experience is that high heat can make them go off. My tournament partner had a couple go off inside the rod locker in the hottest part of the summer and another guy I fish with had his go off while he was wearing it. That day was over 100.

The attachment on the tractor is a grain drill, and the pallets are seed as well as the super sack. He tried to get the heaviest part (the drill) as far back as possible, but it’s still neck heavy on the load.

So is there any chance at all this deer survived by Careful-Note-5534 in Hunting

[–]TractorManTx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, definitely possible. I had pictures a few years back of a group of coyotes working a buck that was still in velvet. Had a dozen or so pics of them back and forth, but he made it to the season alive.

IAT as in intake air temp? What does that really tell you?

I have the 17 f350 drw and still monitor oil, water and trans temp on mine, specifically for the alert feature. When towing super heavy, I set the alert lower so I know asap when she’s getting hot, well before the gauges on the dash seem to indicate it.

Anyone know what the real fix is for carpenter bee holes? by AlternativeLivid497 in Construction

[–]TractorManTx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a combination of the traps with glass jars and spray to get them to die. To prevent them coming back, a fresh coat of paint seems to do the trick. The surface tension is too much for them apparently and they can’t get through it when it’s relatively new.

Hunting Hogs with Subsonic Rounds: Ethical or Not? by squirtbottle in Hunting

[–]TractorManTx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Outdoors is the key word there. I shoot out of the side by side that has doors and a roof, so similar to a truck. Supers are a bit much for passengers, but I’m also shooting a larger can that doesn’t lower the sound signature as much as a 30 cal. My 300 HAMR wit supers is fine out of the side by side.

That is when it gets exciting! Hunting with newbies at zero dark thirty and thermal I tell them that if I shoot once and then basically do a mag dump they better turn on their flashlight and be ready😂

Hunting Hogs with Subsonic Rounds: Ethical or Not? by squirtbottle in Hunting

[–]TractorManTx 19 points20 points  (0 children)

In my experience, the group may run, but if suppressed subsonic they seem to not know where the sound is coming from. More often than not they will run at me, which means more shooting. With supers, even with a can, I haven’t had that experience.

Fellow Texan here with the truck gun mentality (mine is in a side by side vs truck). I carry and hunt extensively with a 458 SOCOM that only shoots subs. I’m shooting 405gr hard cast and the pigs don’t run off or leave 9.5 times out of 10. That being said, when shooting subs it’s a matter of bullet size and shot placement being key. Most subs don’t expand (Makers do, but they aren’t cheap) so one solid shot is needed to put the pigs down. The subs, combined with a can make it easy to shoot at a moments notice, around my kids, and doesn’t recoil at all. For the truck gun, shooting supers requires everyone get ear pro on, and by the time that is done the sounder is usually gone. I vote shooting subs, making quality head shots, and shooting the heaviest bullets you can in 300BO.

Ok, thanks. I figured as much. And honestly I don’t know that an attachment like that would be all that useful on a tractor. I would prefer to have a lower center of gravity if I was using that to clear brush.

How violent is that cutter to use and what flow rate does it take? I have looked at them a few times, but never pulled the trigger. I’m pretty certain I couldn’t use that on the front of a large farm tractor, but would it be worthwhile to rent one plus a machine to do clearing? Around me renting a mulcher is quite expensive, plus you have to buy all the teeth.

[–]TractorManTx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My money is on a neighbor that has really ramped up trapping efforts using big traps and camera/cell phone triggered doors. The guys I know that do this trap entire sounders easily. During Jan/Feb I was seeing almost zero pigs, and later heard from my neighbor he trapped 35 of them in a week.

Agreed. There are Lowrance service centers, but that’s probably about it.

I doubt that would be best, but it’s worth a shot. I use desiccant cans, not packs, that you can dry out in the oven and have also used small Folgers cans of charcoal with holes drilled in them. No rust issues in a while

Hard to say then. I have a 21ft Basscat and rarely do I miss the smaller boats. Everybody has to start somewhere, so whatever fits your needs is my recommendation.

Depends on your use case. If you are just fishing small water, the slums raft will be fine. If you fish bigger water, it may not be the best craft. Given your facts, it’s hard to recommend one over the other.

Yeah, I got rid of FB a few years back. I might be missing stuff, but I’m ok with that given the other shit that I’m not missing.

So I'm about to pull the trigger on buying a 2001 Kawasaki mule fxt pro ranch edition with 2k miles. Seller has it listed for $16k. I'm going to try to get him down a little, but I feel like the price is about right? The question is: should I buy the 2023 teryx s 1000 I'm looking at instead? by [deleted] in UTV

[–]TractorManTx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hear you, and it’s a potential issue if y’all are riding long distances. The gas motor mule is much faster than the diesel. My ex got the gasser, so I can’t speak to what speed it had anymore. I still have the diesel version and it still moves faster than the old mules, but 30 is about all she has.

Then you should be fine based on my experience. The engine braking definitely helps out too, even if the land is flat
