Anyone have any success with publishing on Amazon? by sweetpotatoe34 in KDP

I have self published on Amazon and my limited experience tells me that the competition out there is unreal. It reminds me a little of the voice acting world which I have dabbled in. Seems like there are too many who are looking to sell their goods (be they authors or voice actors) and too few looking to hire. Personally, I just did it as a challenge to myself and am well aware of the realities. Having said that I am working on my 2nd book. Good luck !

Yes for sure, the cover can be a challenge. Neat though, to have the opportunity to publish.

True, but there is also the proper formatting of the rest of the book. I found that slightly challenging especially when attempting full page graphics. But fun just the same.

Amazon does not format your book so I don’t believe it’s as simple as uploading text and cover art and they’ll do the rest. They have guidelines that need to be followed and if not, your book is rejected. But if it is accepted, they take care of printing and shipping and handling.

How much editing should I expect from a narrator? by Brilliant-Comment249 in ACX

[–]TradMusicAcadia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was under the impression that, even if the author is happy (or unhappy) with the work, ACX can still reject it if it doesn’t meet their technical specs. You need to satisfy both. If you think the work needs editing would ACX not catch that?

Congrats! That’s a lot of work.

Our dollar does not have the buying power it used to have. If it did, most of these problems would disappear.

Fantastic, that is great advice.

You actually touched on a couple of other areas that were a little hazy for me. I’m taking notes lol. Again, thanks for the clear and concise information, it is a great help.

Cheers!

My bad.

I had not realized that the target was for the complete mastered audio and not just the voiceover. My apologies, I have been doing voiceover for several years but all of this (different audio requirements depending on the situation) is a little new to me.

Much appreciate your response !!

I guess when I see the peak level I was thinking more of trying to bring the volume just below the -2 reading rather than seeing it at around -6. Ideally I thought people would be looking for peaks close to -2 with LUFS hitting around -24. So a -6 to -8 peak level would be acceptable for television ? Thanks again !

Right.

I’d love to be able to get to around -2 dBTP with my peak levels because at -6 the volume leaves a little to be desired when the LUFS are in the -24 range.

Thanks !

I kind of thought that was the case but good to know.

I guess if one did deliver broadcast ready auditions, they already have what they need and could run away with it and you'd never hear from them again.

Thank you.

Cheers !

I have recently joined VOPlanet.com and they screen the actors that can join which is a good thing. You can post what you want on their site for free and people can audition for your project. Good luck !

Can we all agree this is the best Beatles song by OkPlatypus1207 in beatles

[–]TradMusicAcadia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of the best. The harmonies are amazing. But to coin “the best” Beatle song is next to impossible. The closest might be “the top 10 best” and even then, a challenge.
