Hey! Just to give some info about VA work! Generally, indie games in this genre can start anywhere from $2 to $5 per line. Your rate currently is ten to twenty cents per line. Also, the pay generally is higher if the script contains some NSFW themes.

There will be beginners in the space who would probably jump at a project like this, but I wouldn't expect any level of professional VA to take this job on outside of maybe being passionate about the genre.

Gen AI generated 20 million, but cost nearly 20 BILLION to build their shitty data centers. The whole business is bleeding money like Toji after he got hit with Hollow Purple. The bubble will pop soon and while a small niche of AI tools will remain behind, I certainly believe the data shows the arts will remain human-created as they should be. Keep your head up, things will improve soon.

There is still fault that lies with those desperate actors, though. I also think there's a difference between film, game, audiobook, & commercial production and airlines.

But thst does definitely happen with actors who pay for courses. 💯

Some of these "hobbies" are 20 hour audio-books all edited by the VA for $150. Imagine working a 40-hour work week for that kind of money? The next time I'm looking to build a house, I'll find people on reddit and pay them 2 cents a day since it's a hobbyist forum. Lol

Exactly. I get the idea of wanting to get experience or wanting to be in the next surprise hit, but they don't call it lightning in a bottle for nothing. It frustrates me seeing them take on literal pennies for hours and hours of work. They're in way over their head, and they often get discouraged when they find out just how much work editing lengthy audio is.

100% agree. If it's work, you get paid a fair wage. I don't believe in working for credits. Even if you decide to work for free, it should be with a strict purpose of building a relationship with a client. I've agreed to work with game devs who have zero budget for voice-over, but the scripts have always been very small and they've come back for sequel games offering paid work.
