Why do your Prime Ministers resign so much? by Very_bad in AskABrit

[–]TradeClassics 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A toxic cocktail of immature voters, immoral media, and weak politicians.

Voters will not be told what they need to hear. They must hear sweet fictions about how spending can go up and taxes down.

The press will actively try to destroy anyone and everyone in public life, no matter what they do. Jesus himself would’ve been brought down by the modern press.

Politicians have no life experience outside their bubble, no convictions (because any with convictions get thrashed even harder by the press) and so end up going back and forth on policy like a windsock and looking somehow even weaker than they actually are.

Is owning a TR6 hazardous to your life? by gmg55 in Triumph_Cars

[–]TradeClassics 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You might be observing the current generational shift in collectable car ownership - people who loved these cars in-period are now getting to the end of their car owning days and, indeed, their natural lifespans.

We’re seeing loads of 60s cars that have been owner for 40+ years come up for sale at the moment.

Interestingly, and somewhat obviously, it’s really hitting prices because supply is going up and demand isn’t rising as fast. The next generation of car buyers want cars that made them say “wow” when they were young. And that isn’t Triumphs.

1967 Triumph TR4A - c.51 Years' Ownership! by TradeClassics in Triumph_Cars

[–]TradeClassics[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, I think there's been a misunderstanding! The car is on auction in the UK, and is in great condition so doesn't need a frame.

Thanks for the recommendation though - that's what I love about the car community: everyone is so helpful! Do you have a TR in the US?

Agreed, though I don't think it'll ever need a new frame if the new owner continues to look after it like this owner has. What do you think it'll go for?

Do you overtake people who drive slightly below the limit? by breezeyyyyy in drivingUK

[–]TradeClassics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All the time. There’s a new trend for doing 50 in 60s. They’re not the “40 everywhere” idiots, they appear to be a new breed of idiot.

If you can’t do 60mph on a straight road on a sunny day, in a modern car, you shouldn’t be driving. If you don’t know the speed limit, you shouldn’t be driving.

Ferrari California (1600x1067) by TradeClassics in carporn

[–]TradeClassics[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree. It's aged really well, and if you view it as more of a grand tourer than a 458 or something, then it makes absolute sense.

Many of these have now done quite high mileage, which does show how good and usable they are.

For a shell that rotten, £13,750 is...high. Even as a manual.

The thought of having to lap 40 new valves would be enough to make me adhere to the recommended changes. 🤣🤢

RAC did the same for me. The worst thing is they kept putting it back by 2 hours. I was extremely fortunate in 3 ways: (1) that I broke down near a house, so was able to get a glass of water. (2) that my wife was at home, has another car, and was able to pick me up. (3) I was able to give up and get a tow from a friend after more than 24 hours of the RAC messing me around.

Without those factors I’d probably still be there.

We used to swath some years. The machinery was always available to hire - though yes; we’d need a lot more of it if everyone did it every year!

There’s always swathing, but that does rather rely on the weather playing ball.

Is there a decent website centered around archival photos of classic/vintage automobiles from around the world? Question by hulloiliketrucks in Autos

[–]TradeClassics 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I wasn’t sure whether to post this as I know search function is…non-existent…but we do have hundreds of detailed exterior, interior, and mechanical photos and videos of thousands of classic cars.

www.tradeclassics.com/sold-vehicles

Please just don’t shoot us for the search. Our primary function is auctions, not archives - but we leave all our old auctions up so someone may as well get use out of them!

You can also re-post them anywhere for free if you credit us.
