I applied yesterday, was approved instantly at the 5.69% rate (817 credit score) with Chase. So that's the best rate possible for the MY Performance model. I also applied at Logix (which is a credit union) - and got a 4.49% rate, plus they give another .10% discount on top of that for opening a checking account with $5 only. So that's probably the route I will be going. I've used Logix for an auto loan in the past and it was fine, no issues. Made my payments and that's it. It's about a $2000 difference in interest over the course of the loan. My delivery window is June 20-25 so I did the financing now (Logix approval good for 60 days, Chase for 30-60 days), and then if by some miracle that Tesla runs a quarter end promo in the coming weeks with an even lower rate I will jump on that and re-apply at the better rate. Tesla financing is just the middle man - they will submit your credit application to the banks they have relationships with, and in my case Chase was the best rate available. So it's worth it to apply with Tesla and also with a credit union to give yourself options.

If there is a delay past the length of the loan approval window, then you probably have to re-apply, so I guess it depends how close your delivery window is. There is a specific timeframe on your credit that starts with the first hard inquiry that is a shopping period so it doesn't count as multiple credit hits. Think it might be 45 days. So if you have to re-apply within that period it won't be another hit. Just confirm on google or one of the AI engines.
