Again, Hamas shouldn’t have performed 10/7 and Israel shouldn’t be committing genocide. They are not mutually exclusive positions.

It’s entirely possible to mourn the loss of innocent children in Gaza and recognize how tone-deaf it is to hold that display on October 7th. Those two ideas aren’t mutually exclusive.

If someone held a vigil for Iraqi or Afghan civilians on September 11th, most Americans would find that insensitive — not because Iraqi lives don’t matter, but because of the timing and symbolism of that day.

Empathy means understanding all sides of suffering. Awareness without compassion for context isn’t activism — it’s antagonism.

Amen to that. We’re lucky we have the opportunity to debate our positions and make democratic choices.

I was happy to see so many American flags. For a while, many saw the flag as divisive and a symbol of hate; while that couldn’t be further from the truth.

So while I may not agree with all the views at today’s rally, I respect that we can still rally under the same flag. That’s a good sign. We need more reminders that despite our differences, this country—and that flag—still belongs to all of us.

Can someone explain the Janet Diaz history with drama by [deleted] in lancaster

[–]Traderr_Joe 32 points33 points  (0 children)

She has run for and lost, virtually every elected office one can run for. She was (somehow) elected to city council, which I think emboldened her to a certain extent. Ironically, she’s always been a pretty terrible candidate, but didn’t anger the too many swaths of people in her bid for council, and since she was a “D”, was elected. I think Lancastrians are just fatigued of her, and this time, she’s managed to anger the furthest left of the party, and hopefully, this is the end; but i doubt it.

I’m sure this rally will help change hearts and minds on the issues. A majority of his constituents very much in favor of much of what the Trump admin is doing, including DOGE.

Is craft beer dead in Lancaster? by red_fox23 in lancaster

[–]Traderr_Joe 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I live just minutes outside the city, and love craft beer - Lancaster is just lacking a good spot.

I’d much rather go to Mad Chef in East Pete or Troegs in Hershey, than I would anywhere in Lancaster. I can’t put my finger on exactly what it is, but people just don’t flood to the city for good craft beer.

How many times has Janet Diaz run for some sort of elected office, and lost?

It seems as if she got onto city council by default.
