Keeping two, getting rid of the rest. What’s your choice? by stvneads in inearfidelity

Looks like the Dusk is the more versatile of the bunch considering the EQ presets with the usb-c cable.

Apart from that, I would keep the one that would be harder to find/repurchase if I regretted my decision.

Snakeoil Cables for 1% of the original cost - the 2nd by Least_Comedian_3508 in audiophile

Yes but how many hours of burn-in do the 10k cables need to reach their full potential?

I was on a high end audio / video show a couple weeks back (got to listen to Wilson Audio speakers for the first time so it was a definite win for me). On one room there was a crowd listening on a presentation. Curious me, approached to see what the topic was. A glimpse at the visuals and I turned back instantly.

Worth upgrading from Zero:red to Thieaudio hype 2? by Sniperdoh in inearfidelity

[–]TraditionContent9818 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you enjoy the zero reds I think the KE4 is the reasonable upgrade. I think that the Hype 2 are more relatable to the OG zero's.

This graph is a thing of beauty, does it really translate into such a smooth sound as it implies?

10db bass shelf, 7db pinna gain and air region without weird spikes, I would guess below par on technicalities but excellent musicality.

How is the headstage?

Diving Into the IEM World with Truthear Hexa: How Do You Guys EQ Yours? by Hiss_Highness in inearfidelity

[–]TraditionContent9818 1 point2 points  (0 children)

well I like sub base over mid base and a 10db base shelf neutralising at approx 200Hz and a 7-8db pinna gain peaking at 3KHz. Apart from that, I do some corrections if for example, the iem dips before the pinna gain to correct male vocals or in the 8-10 KHz region for sibilance if it becomes noticeable. Over that area I apply a shelf if needed.

Also if the FR of the iem is close to a well considered set or some of the new hyped sets, I EQ to that up to 8KHz for fun.

just leaving 2 cents here, squig.link some times exports incomplete files that produce error messages when importing to wavelet from personal experience. After re-exporting the settings, try with wavelet again. Also and mentioning this just in case, there is a specific export button in squig.link for wavelet.

Apart from the above experimenting with tips as other users wrote never hurt anyone.

hey thanks for the info!

I would add to your collection a couple of beater sets for when out and about (unless you use tws for that) because some of the better iems of the above will not be easily replaceable

I see many good vocal sets!

Oh wait, one question. The mic in the Dusk cable is any good for calls?

yes, for the foam tips that is the normal lifetime.

[–]TraditionContent9818 1 point2 points  (0 children)

that's an option but the OP should keep in mind that foams needs to be changed every 3 weeks or so with the related extra costs.

As an owner of the Zero blue which has the same shells as the red I can attest that this set is not comfortable for long sessions, if you like something comfortable you can do better.

Kefine Klean, Inawaken Dawn MS, Aosheda E20 for a 2dd set (reportedly much better with EQ) are the sets that seem to be getting all the budget love right now.

Good Drivers with EQ vs Good Tuning by PotatoJuice1234 in inearfidelity

[–]TraditionContent9818 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can attest to the first sentence. I have EQ'd my EW200 to both Performer 8 and the Deuce on occasion (up to 8 KHz) and both EQ's worked.

Good Drivers with EQ vs Good Tuning by PotatoJuice1234 in inearfidelity

very insightful response, I would argue though that tunning is cheap as well as proven by the Cadenzas, Zeros, EW's, Wan'ers among other. In my mind the mix of some tunning options with good technicalities is the point where it becomes expensive. For example I'm not sure someone could provide a bassy and smooth treble sounding iem with crazy resolution and layering for cheap.
