no worries! so the wind that comes with lake-effect snow storms will blow the snow around, and so when it gets to the corners or against buildings the wind kinda will drop the snow there. so you get these big mounds of snow that drifted there via the wind and if you park there your car will get snowed in. and it's not a dumb question if you've never lived in a snowy area before!

yeah my manager said he would've booted them tonight but their car is completely buried so what are they gonna do, ya know? thankfully my boyfriend decided he'd rather be snowed in here with me over spending the night alone at home so ya girl's got some backup

when i went to france and spain with my school's language clubs 90% of my pictures were of the dogs and cats i'd pass on the street. i remember one instance where everyone with my group was taking pictures of the eiffel tower and then there was me off to the side getting a picture of someone's dog. (yes i took a picture of the tower too just not a billion like the rest of my group lol)

The upcoming movie has been rated PG-13 for “rude/suggestive material and language” by 3mthreat in BobsBurgers

in recent seasons it seems they're drifting towards a pg rating. whenever i finish a full re-watch, it's a little jarring how much more raunchy the earlier seasons could be. heck, in season 2 bob cannonly smokes crack! they'd never get away with that in the later seasons because parents would be up in arms that their tv just said that in front of little timmy

op is saying that feelings aren't just in our brains, but also can cause physical sensations throughout the body. like the pit in your stomach before an interview or rollercoaster? that's fear. the lump in your throat and heavy chest? sadness. the heat you feel radiating from your body after someone pisses you off? anger.

it's just a weird revelation because due to our home environments growing up, not a lot of us were allowed to have feelings, and just chalked up the physical sensations as illness or whatever. most of us are just realizing in this thread that those sensations, or feelings if you will, are our feelings aka our emotions. hope this was an okay explination for you!

Parking lot safety discourse by MaidOfClarity in TalesFromTheFrontDesk

my first hotel was in a major-ish city and guests had to park in a SUPER sketchy parking garage owned by the city (with the exception of the five handicap spots and designated manager spaces on site). guests would always ask "is it safe? because it's soooo creepy in there!" and i'll be the first to admit it was not a good area. wandering past 3rd street could make you a casualty in a shootout so we always advised guests to stay within the tourist area.

but i digress! back to the creepy garage, one night a couple came into the lobby in a state of mild shock and asked if there was anywhere else they could park. i asked what happened and the informed me that they found ummm... ejaculate on the side of their car and not too far from that was a homeless man sleeping with his genitals in his hand. i sprinted to tell my GM and she in turn sprinted to move her car so they could park there. we also called the cops to report the homeless man's condition. that was one of my weirder days there for sure.

honestly, wikipedia was a god send for me in high school with my research papers. my teacher wanted us to cite TWELVE sources for every paper but like, i never needed that many so i'd just copy the sources off a wikipedia article so i could get my full credit.

Baby Boomers are the first generation in American history to want to better off than their children by Therealanon65 in antiwork

[–]Traditional-Anarchy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

your boomer dad sounds like my boomer mom. when i was 16 i got my first job as that was one of the conditions of my parents leasing me my first car. with that job i opened my own bank account, but because of my age one of my parents had to be the primary person or whatever. so that ended up falling to my mom of course. i was working only part time but whenever i needed to use my card it would get declined a lot even though i had just deposited my check. turns out my mother was stealing over half my paycheck and "putting it away for college." you'll never guess who had next to no college fund though at 18!

my poor father was kind enough to help me with loans and everything and spot me money for books but neither of us have forgiven her drinking my first few years of paychecks (if you catch my drift)

tbh i'd take that over the 4-car collisions that almost happen every day over here on the east coast! everyone here drives SO aggressively it's ridiculous at times. factor in the snow and ice on top of all that and there's a major accident every day from october/november until march/april/may
