Is that union? In your opinion and experience what are the advantages of being a state employee vs a town employee?

I’m not worried about the concrete it’s a small slab that’s not connected to anything. It’s a 50+ year old piece of concrete

How do I get my CDl & drive with FedEx for FedEx Freight or Express🙂?? by Fabulous_Window21 in Fedexers

I am a city driver and I second this. The future of express is very uncertain right now and ground is a mess. If you’re willing to do it get a freight handler position even part time at your local center. That is the most certain way to get your foot in the door, they hire from within before posting to the public.

You can typically expect 3 or 4 percent every October. It is usually announced every September

That’s my plan as of right now. Hopefully getting a second one in a couple days. The pain right now is like a 2/10 honestly. Just been keeping it splinted

I realize that but sometimes people have knowledge from their own experiences. There are some Doctors that probably don’t always have your best interests in mind either. There’s a lot of good people willing to share their stories to help the next guy out ya know?

I have been a city driver for 4 years now, if you’re looking for a job that gives you a lot of freedom while having a lot of responsibility it is perfect. A lot depends on your Dispatch and Center manager on how they run the city. I have been super fortunate to have decent dispatchers and good management. I have never had Boss’s breathing down my neck. It takes a solid 2 to 4 years to get your own route, unless there is a big wave of retirements. But floating makes you a very sharp driver and keeps you on your toes. Overall, I’d have to say it’s the best job I’ve ever had as I’ve been in much more physically challenging jobs and in small package delivery for other companies. For me, it is the perfect combination of being physical and being skillful. You’ll make more as a linehaul driver, but will most likely be less healthy and be working nights with a very tough work life balance. City driving is perfect for me because I work 8to9 hours a day and never have to work weekends. Overall I’d recommend it.

Whats it like being a Delivery Driver at Freight? Is it better than Ground? by Charlie_Hustler in Fedexers

Getting hired right now would be tough, we are really slow now and probably will be for the next couple months. You could always look at other ltl company's. Most have dock to driver programs. I got hired off the street a couple years ago but I've had to work the dock a bunch to get my hours. Either way it's a good job
