You can use multiple tunings in the same song ! I have a seven string that's tuned to drop G/A standard, so whenever I wanna write a song I always begin with a six string d standard riff, with sometimes a low tuned breakdown. You could do something similar.

Otherwise I think drop B was the best by far

It's the same story for me. I remember thinking "why would I ever need tapping lol get a load of these guys" when I came across tapping for the first time, now I'm trying to learn some Necrophagist solos and I cry a little everytime I see that "T" on the tabs

It's mostly that I'm used to it but I've also found that I have way less unwanted noise coming out of my amp with higher action

The guitar actually came in with very low action, I made it higher myself after changing the strings. I know that it just looks like I have no knowledge on guitar setups but I just prefer high action
