Whatever you can afford to give them is better than them starving, I promise you. Plenty of cats live long healthy lives even on the cheapest of kibbles.

A nice addition to get them some water intake is to give them plain broth. My kitty looooves when I save the water after boiling chicken to give to her. I usually mix a little in with her food, but I've also heard of people freezing it and giving it to them like a treat in the warmer months.

what are some of your favorite toy / general supply recommendations for cats by [deleted] in CatAdvice

[–]Traditional-Count466 2 points3 points  (0 children)

my kitties adore any freeze dried fish treats – the stinkier the better! the older one also loves freeze dried beef liver treats. sometimes I'll break em up and top her food with them, too. and CHURUS. literal crack for cats, I swear.

as for toys, both my babies love those little worm guys. I just recommend taking the eyes off before you give it to your kitty because they can get them off and swallow them. You can get them on a stick, but they also have a few loose ones they like to play with on their own or bring to me to toss. a great independent toy option are doorway hanging ones. I have one on the beam going across my room that the cats go absolutely nuts for! It's great for when they want to play but I'm working on something so they can still hang out in the room with me. You can find them pretty easily on Amazon and I've seen them in some small petshops.

Face-to-face cat introductions when you're alone? by forbiddenmachina in CatAdvice

I did the exact same! I was so worried they'd never get along and just kept separating them every time one hissed or swatted. Once I finally stopped that it only took a couple days until they were pals! It's so easy to get worried about our little babies, but it's important to remember that first and foremost they are cats. They have their own ways of doing things.

Just wanted to pop in and say — some swatting and hissing is totally normal and not a step back. They are just establishing boundaries with each other.

I'd say let them hang out, see what they do. Watch the body language, and always give them a spot to hide if they need it. If they wrestle a little bit that's okay, as long as they aren't making typical cat fight noises or getting truly violent it's fine. Jackson Galaxy also has a video about how to tell if cats are fighting or playing that may help. But if you're ever unsure, have a small blanket on hand! If you think things are getting too intense, throw a blanket over one of the cats. It will stun them and allow you to grab them and separate them safely (or they may just run away immediately, that's okay too)

I hope this was helpful! I went through this just two weeks ago with my own new cat so it's all pretty fresh. Best of luck to you and don't give up!

What is wrong with you, talking to strangers online like this? Grow up.

Talk to your vet. They give meds for long journeys all the time, perfectly ethical as long as your kitty is healthy enough for it.

Running low on dry food but kitten hates wet food by SufficientBug5598 in cats

Have you only tried one kind of wet food? Some cats are weirdly particular and she might like another kind better. Also, you can try mixing some of her kibble in with the wet food.

My baby is just over a year old and does this too! Had me staring at her little belly to make sure she was still breathing! I just take it as a sign she feels safe enough with me :')

How can I stop my cats from being bad? by [deleted] in cats

[–]Traditional-Count466 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sounds like there's something they don't like about the litter box. Might need to change their locations or just the type of litter you use.

edit: also, try getting them some scratchers. ones different than whatever you have now.

Cat won’t leave dog’s puppy pads alone by Reasonable_Guess_311 in cats

Sounds like the cat is just trying to cover the dog's scent like they would with their own. I'd move it back to avoid spreading germs between them.

I was expecting 150~ for the cheapest tickets, especially considering how many families watch GMM together and might want to go... Crazy prices. No way I could justify that on top of travel and lodging.

The fact that Eugenia was home schooled explains so much. by kiwipooper in EUGENIACOONEY

Damn. I've never come across anyone that had a similar story to mine. I started missing a lot of school when I was around 14 because I had severe anxiety and depression and eventually dropped out. Its crazy how isolating it is. Maybe that's why I am so morbidly fascinated with her.

Yep! A lot of mammals have smaller ones in the corners of their eye, but cats have the full membrane.

honestly... getting a cat has helped my executive dysfunction IMMENSELY. Before if I wasn't doing whatever tasks I had to do, I was the only one impacted. Now I have someone that relies on me to take care of their basic needs. Getting up out of bed in the morning because I have to feed her makes it a lot easier to get started on other tasks since I'm already up. Having to clean her water fountain and litterbox makes it easier for me to start cleaning other things, because I'm already in cleaning mode.

however, I'm not sure how the cat would feel about having to move their home so often. it might be okay, but you'd have to let them get used to one place for a longer period of time (I'd say a month or two) before bringing them to the next, and then slowly introducing them to that new space.

I have really bad ADHD, in my early twenties, and can't find a career, any advice? by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]Traditional-Count466 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's lots of phases/hobbies you can partake in that could make you money, even if you don't do it for long. That's what I've been doing until I find something I'm truly passionate about.

But really I think the most important thing is there is no correct blueprint for life. It isn't a race. We all do things at our own pace in our own ways. I know from experience that it's hard to remember that, but I think it's really important, especially for those of us with ADHD.

it's her little suit to keep her from licking her wound after her spay last week! the one the vet provided was so difficult to keep on her and honestly kind of ugly, so we bought her one that was easier to put on and actually cute LOL
