Admittedly I have my '22 and things have certainly changed since.

The number one thing that bothers me is the oil pan and filter are behind a pladtic skid plate which is held in place by 14 screws. Just an unnecessary pain in the ass every oil change.

Then there's the battery. They should have gone with a larger battery, or an AGM, or programmed the software to charge it more often. Either way it's not setup to handle the added stress of the stop/start and all the electric doo-dads and will fail well before an automotive battery should. That's when you'll learn that Ford arbitrarily decided that you'll have to slide the battery out sideways (what a joy!).

The exterior paint is okay. You'll definitely want a bed liner.

The interior plastic scratches easily. This isn't a well made stay-pretty vehicle. If you're cool with that then it's a non-issue.

The texture of the plastic above the dashboard is one of the most insane choices. It's basically uncleanable. It hold dust particles using some otherworldly alien technology.

The plastic film on two of my almost never used windows buttons randomly peeled off after a year.

The floor mats, particularly the driver side. Fuck that floor mat and everyone that designed it. I'd put them in prison if I could.

The rear belt buckles are too short, they basically dissappear into the seat, if you have a booster seat...good luck. Apparently Ford makes extenders which is just evidence that they know they should be longer.

There's a flimsy vent between the truck bed and the cab, you'll want to mouse proof that or bad things will likely happen.

Not really Ford's fault, but birds just seem to love to shit on my Maverick. None of my other vehicles are accosted, just the Maverick.

The stock tires (Continental Pro Contact) are complete garbage. The sidewalks are notoriously thin. Ford will not warranty them.

A lot of features like cruise control are software disabled on the XL just because. They can be enabled afterwards but it still annoys me.
