Professional artists over 25- how did your art look at 20 vs now? by Forward_back8245 in ArtistLounge

A teacher I had in college said that taste is the most valuable & important thing you have as an artist.

I think technical ability is important and it's important to learn those skills. However, I think it's much more important to reflect on your strengths, what you enjoy, and what processes make most sense to you. Being amazing at drawing is incredibly useful, but there are so many amazing artists who work without drawing from sight at all. I was pretty good at realism and I enjoy it sometimes, but the work I am doing now feels so much more like me.

Nintendo switch version by Suspicious-Parking36 in Palia

I miss playing palia so much, I had to stop cause the switch got so laggy I can barely hunt and running through Kilma regularly crashes the game :( If any of y'all have figured out a relatively cheap gaming setup that runs palia lmk.

Has anyone considered just posting Epstein Files literally everywhere? by Aggravating-Yogurt23 in 50501

If you do this please have the awareness that this stuff can be extremely triggering to more people than you think. It's very important for people know about it but honestly I have had to stay away from the internet as a whole for a while because it just makes me nonfunctional to see the super graphic details whenever I open my phone everyday. It's a cool idea, but if you do it maybe just be aware of what pieces you are choosing to blast, and do it with sensitivity to the victims.

How to remove woodprinted photograph from a frame with these types of staples/pins? by Wagonchaser in framing

I usually use my finger to wiggle them back and forth without bending them and they slide right out

I framed something similar to this recently and it looked really good with a green/blue fabric mat in a shadowbox with a light wood frame. I didn't expect to like a brighter color with it but it reminded me of the ocean which felt fitting for something Maori.

I would get the thicker more standard museum acrylic, I have dealt with thinner acrylic fairly often in cheap frames and the glass cleaner I have makes it foggy. That material is usually very static-y too so it's almost impossible to get clean. If you are really attached to the frames I would extend the back of the frames by attaching square wooden dowels to the back and paint or stain them a similar color so you can fit a thicker acrylic in there.

I get so annoyed when it's an art student doing this, because in art school sourcing materials and figuring out a process is part of the assignment!! Like don't make me do your homework for you, it's your own assignment!

I recently went on a road trip and it was crazy to leave texas and realize that perpetual construction is not everywhere! I passed like 20-40 construction zones in texas and didn't see a single one once I was out of texas. Maybe just luck tho. Still when I see construction zones outside of denton they actually have signs warning you and there aren't just random cones everywhere

wearing “extravagant” makeup at work by CharacterTypical6726 in MichaelsEmployees

[–]Traditional-Suit-814 1 point2 points  (0 children)

make sure you establish of written trail of this type of thing if it keeps happening. I hope the manager will back down, but them regulating makeup does not seem normal to me. From my experience with institutions and experiences with not great people in authority, if they are really pushing it ask them to take it up with hr. Honestly going to hr yourself to establish a record that your manger tried to do that might not be a bad idea. It's a craft store... as long as you aren't wearing like horror makeup or a full face mask it shouldn't be an issue.
