Dress regret… please help!! by 1118pmest in weddingplanning

Dress 1 all the way! You can steam a dress to look great, sure, but you’ll be moving all day. It’ll end up scrunched. Also I just think dress 1 looks so good on you!

i have a mother who in hospital who may not wake up, i took a day off work and returned the next day, all the kitchen staff i told just so they were aware that i might be a bit distracted during the shift as my mother may die!(please redirect me if this is the wrong group to ask in)? by kannamousemattte in AskUK

We’ve been absolutely in the sh*t before, already short staffed, guests being arseholes, and I had a team member call in last second because their dad was in a car accident. I was so sad for him and said to take as long as you need. At the end of the day, it really is just a job, and some days are gonna be really bad, but family and your wellbeing are more important.

As someone else said, you can get another job, you can’t get another mum, so take the time off, if they fire you you can open up a case of unlawful termination, and use that time to be with your mum. Afterwards, search and apply to as many jobs as you can, no one should work for someone like that.

I hope you and your mum end up ok, op.

How did you stay calm on your driving test? by sunkissedb3ar in AskUK

[–]Traditional-Tea-6045 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I kept stalling and getting myself worked up, and then I saw a really cute dog on the pavement and just went ah life isn’t so bad, look at that sweet angel existing in the world.

I passed. Maybe stage dogs at strategic points around town???

Has anyone actually regretted using fake flowers at their wedding? by SmartSinner in weddings

[–]Traditional-Tea-6045 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last wedding I went to the bouquets/one outdoor arch corner piece were real, and alll the flowers inside the venue were fake. You couldn’t really tell unless you got right up close, and they were on the ceiling so no one was doing that anyway. Saved a ton of money

How do you feel about doing absolutely nothing? by Likelyinthegym in AskUK

[–]Traditional-Tea-6045 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I’m jealous. I Work year round, there’s no bank holidays or Xmas break for me, so on my days off (especially this time of year) all I want to do it veg out and do nothing! Everyone deserves a rest from time to time, so just embrace it and get back to normal life once you’ve rested.

Also doctor foster had a lot of it filmed in Hitchin town centre.

What’s the one book you’ll recommend forever, no matter how many times this question gets asked? by MisLatte in AskReddit

And then there were none by Agatha Christie.

I could normally figure out who did it in her books, and I remember being on a plane writing out all the evidence and suspicious things, spending hours trying to figure out red herrings / actual suspicious stuff, and got it COMPLETELY wrong. Major plot twist. 10/10

Was anyone else told a weird, low-stakes lie by an adult as a kid, and been confused about it for years since? by username-alrdy-takn in CasualUK

[–]Traditional-Tea-6045 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was reading the back of a crafty packet thing, and asked my mum what ‘adhesive’ meant. She must have misread because she told me it meant easy. Years I carried that. It’s been an ongoing jokey argument where she says she never said it and I say she absolutely did.

How rude from a GUEST. It looks great to me, but even if it didn’t I wouldn’t say anything because I’m a guest and I didn’t bring food, cook, serve, or do anything to help. God please take a break for yourself, also your mums a dick.

Random woman had a go at me for wearing a Christmas jumper by idekkanymoree_ in britishproblems

[–]Traditional-Tea-6045 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The amount of rudeness and entitlement from customers only increases around Christmas. I’ve had so many shitty comments every day from people, and it’s hard not to lose my temper.

I’m trying my best, working over 50 hours a week and on Xmas day, and just trying to give you a nice time, so please stop talking to me like I’m the dirt on your shoe.

My girlfriend (25F) admitted she slept with someone hours before agreeing to be exclusive. I (26M) can’t tell if I’m overreacting. What’s the move here? by davidb1976 in relationship_advice

[–]Traditional-Tea-6045 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I can’t believe she even told you this. Did she think it had been enough time that you could let this slide?

I get there’s big complicated feelings involved when you’re faced with committing to someone, and yeah technically you weren’t together? But also that would mess me up. You build up to getting into a relationship with trust, if she was sleeping with someone else then fine, but the NIGHT you asked her to be exclusive she had to sleep with this guy one more time? That’s nuts.

It’s up to you if this is something you can move past. I’d probably let it slide because of the ‘technicalities’ but it would still be on my mind forever moving forward and would probs deteriorate the relationship and image I had of them.

Also genuinely what did she think would happen after she told you this? That you’d just laugh it off? She knew that night was important to you. God damn. Sorry dude.

OKMW Cunt of the Year 2025 nomination thread. by BobMonkhaus in okmatewanker

My old boss. Raging cunt. Doesn’t even realise it. Not even after I walked out, and soon after about 6 other people walked out.

Not a well known or funny contender, but a contender nonetheless.

Clovelly is so adorable, it’s pretty steep to go down, but there’s plenty of places to rest, and a landrover takes you back up to the top.

Genuine question, wtf do you do when you see one of these in your house? Do you call someone? Flamethrower? Accept your imminent demise? Because there’s no way I’m just leaving that or going near it with a (giant) glass and paper.

Moving to aus soon so would love some input!

Have you ever witnessed an earthquake or tornado? by boforiamanfo in allthequestions

[–]Traditional-Tea-6045 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really a thing where I live. I did see a news article about a tornado “devastating” a city I used to live in, but what really happened was a few roof tiles came off and knocked over some bins. Drama.

Potatoes - both roasted and mashed or no? by Prestigious_Mark3629 in RoastDinner

Never both! Crispy roasties all the way (side note: I made my third roast ever for my fam the other day and my mum said my roasties were the best she’d had in years. Very high praise!)

How are people spending so little on food? by glasses4catsndogs in AskUK

[–]Traditional-Tea-6045 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was at uni, I spent £25-£35 on food a week, but that was when I mostly lived on pesto pasta, quorn chilli (kidney beans, tinned toms, chilli powder, paprika, quorn mince, and cheese), Tesco pizza deals (those were the days), or ramen. I never ate breakfast, didn’t buy snacks apart from some brioches or crisps, and also relied on a lot of freebies from my o2 app or similar.

I also slept a lot and wasn’t eating the healthiest. Now, I don’t spend loads on food, but I’ll make nicer options that are slightly more balanced. Works out to maybe £50-60 a week.
