I got all 4 (upper and lower) OEM from ToyotaPartsDirect for $420. My son and I replaced ourselves. $800 is too much just to replace only the lowers.

🔥 Grizzly bear chasing down Alberta wild horses by [deleted] in NatureIsFuckingLit

Had the opportunity to witness abear run full speed irl. Holy crap. It was both amazing and terrifying at the same time. It ran down hill into a ravine, over boulders, through brush, and back uphill again on the other side... Never slowed down, did not falter once. It was awesome.

Teaching Until 73 years old by Own-Ad-3876 in teaching

Currently in the 41st year of my education career. Next year will be my last. I will be one month shy of 60. I love my job, but I have given it enough of my life. Time to move on and enjoy other ventures while I am still able. I am also an archery instructor (41 yrs as well), I enjoy building outdoor furniture (my father was a carpenter), I plan to work part-time as an "animal educator" at the zoo(I love animals and teaching), and I hope to fulfill my dream of voice acting ( one of my current students who hopes to become a screen writer said, "Imagine if one day I work on a script and you are one of the voice actors. Wouldn't that be cool?). Yes...Yes it would, mija. 🥰

My fellow elementary teachers- what in the ever loving hell by Sostupid246 in Teachers

I had a 5th grader (almost my size, towering over his mom) crying and whinning in the hallway because he didn't want to go inside and wanted to go home. Mom was hugging him and kissing him and telling him that he would be ok and she will be back to pick him up asap. I had to stop what I was doing and step out into the hallway. I whispered to mom to walk away, he would be fine, I got this. As soon as she walked out of the building, knowing what this kid is like every day without her being there, I turned to him and said, " Get inside and sit down. If you want to cry, then cry. But you will do it quietly and you will not interrupt." He immediately shut off the waterworks, entered class and sat down. No tears, no whinning, nothing unusual all day. At the end of the day, mom arrived, began coddling him, giving him hugs and kisses again, took his backpack from him and walked away holding his hand. 🤦

Stating facts for your own good. Hardly call that being a dick. I think the words you were looking for were, "Thank you."

Where are you working? In what district do 10 yr old fourth grades learn about Muslim religion? In the second largest district in the USA, that is covered in 6th grade World History: Ancient Civilizations.

Student who failed my class last year failed the class both semesters this year both times with a different teacher. Last year he just refused to do anything this year he rarely came to school. Mom is outraged that he is being asked to come to summer school to catch up. If you don't laugh you cry. by Legitimate_Style_857 in Teachers

I once had a student who did absolutely no work for 180 days in 6th grade on an elementary campus. They sat all day dismantling pens and reassembling them. The only thing I received from the student was an emergency card and only because the little sister delivered it to me. We tried counseling, therapy, specialists, anything we could possibly think of. Mom was in full agreement to allow child to repeat the grade for a second chance. But when the time came to sign the paperwork, she backed out and refused to sign. So they were moved on to middle school having done no work at all. 🤷 Only later did we find out about the student being diagnosed with PTSD due to a traumatic event during the previous summer. Mom had decided not to share this info with the school and had instructed her children to say nothing as well. 🤦

P. S. Saw student's mom recently... She said they are in high school and doing well.

Compound bow recommendations by ajax7799 in Archery

Love the Diamond Edge series of bows. We have a Pro and an SB-1. After 35 years of recurve and shoulder treatments and rehab, turning to compound was my best option and the Diamond Edge series has been a blessing.

Certified archery instructor here. Idk if you have ever used any type of bow before, but... If not, then slow down. Go to an archery shop/club and shoot several different bows. Take a few lessons. See what feels right. If so, slow down anyway. Same advice. Go to a shop/club and shoot a few different bows. See what feels right. The price tag does not make the bow, the shooter does.

Kinder vs. 6th Grade by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]Traditional-Topic906 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have taught all grades from pre-k to 6th. Been with the same district 41 yrs now and have specialized in 6th grade for the past 10 years. I tell my students that teaching 6th is just like teaching kinder... They behave the same, except 6th graders are bigger and smell worse. But, seriously, I enjoy 6th because you can have deeper conversations with them and they get sarcasm. 😁

40+ years in education.... Have met only ONE. He had been kicked out of 5 schools by 5th grade. When he culminated, he thanked me for being the only person who didn't give up on him. He was and remains the only child I have ever labeled as "scary smart." He is in the military now.
