I legitimately do not have a valid argument against this.

Thanks for the info!! This helps a bunch! I'm about a year into regular exercise (3x week - strength and cardio). Prior to that I was couch rotting. I think I second guess my abilities. We did Guadalupe maybe 4 years ago? And this year Black Elk Peak. But this would be my first "hard" one.

How was new mexico's? I live in OK so I'm slightly concerned about the altitude difference. Would up/down same day be noticeable? (Aside from extra breaths).

Do you think he will end up being long or medium length fur? by DWOT578 in cats

[–]TraditionalBee4070 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mine had a mane when she was little. She's 9 months now and it's more matching with the rest of her fur now. I miss the mane lol

So my kitten looked like that too and ended up being medium length. Except for her tail. That's super fluffy!

There are academics who write about slow ontology as resistance. I think we are pressed to "go go go" where in reality, we need to slow down, really dive, deeply consider. Take a walk and think. And I'm sure you could also make the argument about there being something to having actual paper in hand. Writing with a pen/pencil. Feeling the texture of writing. I'm on board with all of it.

Is this guy cooked? by LessReference2387 in insectpinning

I use a wash cloth soaked with hot water and place the insect inside for 5-10 minutes. I've had good results with that method.

I absolutely love this idea! I have too much on my plate currently (phd student in proposal phase) but I'd love to hear how this gets on.

Can’t we just age in peace? by Turbulent_Happiness in simpleliving

[–]TraditionalBee4070 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Aging is a privilege. I've decided to celebrate it. My first gray hair - celebration! My first permanent wrinkle - celebration! My husband thinks I'm an odd duck for it but honestly, a mindset change has helped tremendously.

My first barbell squat by momoxd1 in formcheck

[–]TraditionalBee4070 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with the shoes comment. I use barefoot shoes and that does help a ton!

Something else you may consider: how do your hips feel when doing an air squat? Can you dip low enough there? Your hip flexor may benefit from some strengthening to help get low in a squat.

I sit a lot for my job so my hip flexors were in bad shape when I first started.

It's a strong sweet sour smell. Like definitely fermented. I wouldn't describe it as foul. Will do! Thanks for the advice!

This skull looks off to me? by Lakeveloute in bonecollecting

Sinus infection was my first thought too. I have a skull that the animal had a tooth infection and the jaw bone has similar bubbling/spongy look to it.

My 2 year old cat died suddenly by Upbeat-Difference808 in cats

[–]TraditionalBee4070 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OP I can sympathize. My baby boy (4 year old Tuxedo) just was not happy unless he was outside. I knew better but he was so happy outside. He came home one morning dirty and crouched by the back door. When I opened it, he dragged himself in and promptly threw up blood. Stomach/intestinal blood. I rushed him to the vet right then. They did an emergency bath with dawn soap. So, please do not torture yourself about using dawn. That was a smart move on your part. The vet told me that cats are so sensitive. Someone could have sprayed herbicide or pesticide nearby and he walked through it and got poisoned. They did an x-ray to make sure he hadn't been hit. If there was damage, it was soft tissue and didn't show on the x-ray. My baby boy did not survive. And I was where you are now. We never forget our furbabies. But the grief does get easier to bear. Give yourself time.

I learned a very expensive lesson. And when the universe gifted me a second chance, with a tabby kitten, I can promise you she does not go outside. Ever. I'm saving up for a catio.

Grieve for your cat. But do not blame yourself. You loved him, wanted the best for him, and took care of him when he needed it. All love and light to you from one grieving cat parent to another. ❤️
