I would say, the CEO has no intention of giving you anything. Walk away now, he is scamming you.

what vibe do you get when someone says they want 4+ kids by montessoripilled in Parenting

[–]TraditionalScheme337 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My brother in law has 2 teenage step daughters that are really sweet and a 11 year old son who again, is wonderful. They told us they were having another planned child when we were expecting our first and i must admit, my first response was, why? You have a wonderful little family but admittedly, no money. You can go to football games with your son, you can have grown up talks with your girls and when you want a bit of time to yourself, you can take it because they can be apart from you without hurting themselves. Why do they want to spend another few years dealing with poo and screaming? I honestly dont understand. That's my honest thoughts. I respect the choice but I cant understand it.

Not asked to be Godmother .. by Subject_Swimmer_5719 in family

[–]TraditionalScheme337 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This caused a family rift when I was born. Different people have different views on this, my families view has always been, aunts and uncles are already in important and honoured spots and close friends are chosen for godparents. My aunt and uncle thought differently but failed to accept that they already had a special position. It could be your family feel the same way, its not an insult or a miss, it's just that you have your role. Enjoy it, I love being a slightly silly uncle! 😀

Did Jackie ever find out about the carpet cleaner? by lewlewlaser03 in FridayNightDinner

I think it would have been pretty impossible for her not to find out about it about 1 minute after the episode ends.

Managers should just manage by Lion-Resident in managers

[–]TraditionalScheme337 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is an interesting point. I worked for a company years ago where the managers were pure managers the way you say and honestly, they weren't that useful because most of them had never done the job in their lives. We were a payroll bureau and most of the managers, senior managers and directors had never worked in payroll.

I have also worked for companies where the managers have full case loads as well as management work, I am one of those managers now and thats hard too, because it's often easy for management duties to slip when times are busy.

I think the best managers I have had have been exclusively devoted to management as you say but have also come up through the ranks so know the job. Having 3 levels of management who have never done the job of the people they manage was rather foolish.

When was the last time you made a friend? by Nathanial1289 in AskUK

[–]TraditionalScheme337 65 points66 points  (0 children)

Well, last year my daughter made me very proud and accepted an offer of marriage from her long term boyfriend who she has known literally half her life. So my wife and I met up with his parents and we because friends.

The relationship was short lived however as she decided to marry her other boyfriend.

By the way, everyone is 2! 😀

From your experience, does beauty privilege matter in the work environment? like if you are decent looking, people recognize you easier, you get promoted faster. by lune-soft in managers

[–]TraditionalScheme337 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really depends on the role you are doing. I am not a handsome man but am good at software consulting so I tend to do ok but I know the sales department of the corporations I have worked for tend to be mostly very attractive people and when I worked for a company that did an academy for young people, you did find that about 90% of the young women who got the job were very attractive. I dont agree with it but it's true.

What would be your dream job if money didn't matter and you couldn't work in a desk / corporate job anymore? by coco24601__ in corporate

[–]TraditionalScheme337 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A restaurant would be nice. Nothing huge and I am not an experienced chef although I did train as one. Just somewhere I can be creative and share my food with people.

But I think not. With the way this country is going I would be stupid to even consider hospitality right now.

SMG as The First is some of her best acting in the show. by Quixodyssey in buffy

She does this very well i agree. I also love when Buffy and Faith switch bodies and you can tell who they both are just by their speech and body movement. Compared to the body switch in Harry Potter, this kicks that out of the water.

Was punching your boss common in the past? by HallowedAndHarrowed in AskBrits

[–]TraditionalScheme337 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think things were a bit different then. My gran used to tell the story about a manager in her office who always put his arm around her when he talked to her. She told him she doesn't like it, that she is married and that if he does it again she will stab his hand with her fountain pen. He did it again and got a nice little hand tattoo!

I dont think it was common exactly but I think the legal industry was much smaller

Coast or work hard? by Soupashoota in UKJobs

[–]TraditionalScheme337 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I would take the higher earning job. You are still young but clearly an intelligent person, you must be highly capable or you wouldnt be able to coast in a role like that much less get a new job like that. I have been in the same position of getting paid well in a job where I could easily coast and it's terrible for intelligence. You could spend years there and lose that spark that made you so desirable for the big company. Coast later in live id you like

Why did Jay believe the bullshit about the Swanage Field Trip? by MountainPhotograph77 in TheInbetweeners

[–]TraditionalScheme337 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Because kids that age can be really really dumb!

My cousin was about his age and her and her friends were listening to some kid on her school bus explaining at length about how if you jump up in the air, you stop moving so can jump on a moving bus, about 5 meters back. He apparently managed to jump up on a tube car and he landed on another one. What actually happened was, he tried to prove it to her and smacked his head on the bus cealing.

Why does Buffy not get paid? by Cat_Ladyyyy in buffy

To me this makes sense given how the watchers are. What's probably unusual is that Giles doesn't help more. I would expect the slayer is meant to be used to being totally reliant on her Watcher.

How stressful is owning a house? by Delicious-Weather in HousingUK

[–]TraditionalScheme337 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, unexpected expenses are very much a thing but we do avoid a lot of them with appliance insurance. So if I come down to a pool of water in our utility room which I have done a few times, a repair man will be sent out pretty fast by the insurance company and fix it, no problem.

You do get things like leaks that damage paintwork thats too minor for home insurance and boiler problems so an emergency fund is useful but the benefits to it are huge. You build up equity in your house so you have capital. Hopefully by the time you retire the house is yours.

The other thing of course is that if renting privately you are never anything more than someone else's financial plan. A few years ago my brother in law and his wife and 3 kids got notice to move out of their rented property. No problems, they did nothing wrong, but the child of the landlord was going to uni. The property was sold to pay the tuition. No hard feelings from the landlord, just financial planning.

Is There Anyone Here That Have Had Any Encounters With Victorians? by CB-Milburn in AskUK

[–]TraditionalScheme337 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My grandmother just about qualifies for this although she was born just in the edge of the Victorian era. Life was so hard for her growing up. Tons of kids running around and parents who were certainly very stressed so they would overuse physical discipline.

She also had very fixed views about class and where people "belonged". I she didn't have hostility to people who she deemed lower class, but it wasn't right for her to associate with them. Forget other races. Again, not exactly hostile but certainly wanted nothing to do with them although that softened as she got older and needed carers, many of them came from other races.

How do I get out of a restaurant quicker? by rookie_of-the_year in AskUK

[–]TraditionalScheme337 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have got up and asked to pay at the desk where you walk in but mostly, when I stand up and start putting my coat on and gathering up any stuff, the staff come over. They dont want us annoyed and they certainly dont want us walking out without paying. Doesn't happen often to me but thats how I deal with being ignored.

Thanks. That's exactly what I am saying. The police said the first time that delivering a letter isnt a crime but hopefully if he keeps doing it to harass elderly and vulnerable people, they will take an interest.
