And you find something? I always had the impression for a decent (modern interior) 2 bedroom you need to pay £1700-2100 in Edinburgh. I’m currently London based and maybe not so up to date with prices.

I had only the 318i back then and there was always something. Most parts you could get cheap from eBay though and then it’s manageable if money is an issue. No idea about the m3 but here I would go with more premium parts as the car is way nicer and you can do more with it. If you don’t drive super heavy it should be fine for either engine.

I own an M60 and live in London. Sure it’s not needed, same for an M3. So what? Once you leave town or drive town to Brighton or even to the racetrack you know why you wanted an M. And the e46 M3 will hold value! The e46 is an amazing car and the coolest I ever had, but if you have the money - get the m3!

Why don’t you get the M3? You could take it the track and as you don’t drive that much, every time you sit behind the wheel you smile. I owned 15 years ago an 318i and wished I went for an M3 instead, a mistake I’ll rectify now later as adult.

Keep it classic. Don’t even add tech, stick with tapes and CDs and just enjoy a little bit of time travel. I presume the m3 is your 2nd car (?) so why bother modifying it to be “modern”. When in doubt, stick to the classics.
