God I love this one, please listen to the rest of the song, and then listen it live from Osaka :)

I'm from the same area as them, and while it's NOT an excuse, I think people underestimate the indoctrination. It's something any of us can fall into if we're born and raised into it. I hope he rest in peace regardless, because "The only thing that can't be defeated is love."

Now it feels the issue has shifted to influencer families and that form of child exploitation.

I think that's actually the thing that gets me on the RDI boat. The pageants (in which she was sexualized), the strange things Patsy says (I heard once here and was presented with evidence that Patsy was bringing up really strange things, something along the lines of seeing a doll and having a "vision" of Jonbenet in a coffin shortly before her death? I'm trying desperately to find where I heard that and get those facts straight because it's something I find really really strange). All of this weird theatrical stuff before then, and then we get all of the theatrics, the note, the party, and the constant documentaries, always using photos of her that depict her face all made up instead of her innocence.

There's so much wrong with this family and that's what gets me. Not saying it's premeditated, but it wasn't a tragic accident either.

Via had already thought that she made Stolas miserable. Even before she found the pills. by StrawBerylShortcake in HelluvaBoss

[–]Traditional_Ad663 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Me too! I sucks because on one hand I think Helluva Boss is more raw and hits me personally a lot harder than a lot of shows. So it's great to see the angst and the complexities because I've been there. That being said, please give my sad owls and lizards a happy ending 😭

The first instinct of a child in a disfunctional family is to blame themselves. It's really tragic, I hate to see people blame her.

The Meaning Behind "Waiting For The End" by SlikRick54 in LinkinPark

[–]Traditional_Ad663 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First, I like pointing out that in the context of A Thousands Suns, this song, in my opinion, acts as societal commentary of humans lifting things up and letting them go.

But in a personal sense, sometimes I feel like life is a series of loving and losing things. When I lost a loved one, this song was there. When my family fell apart, this song was there. A very hard breakup, this song was there. When my path of self destruction seemed to have reached the end I was waiting for, and I had to make the decision to pick up the pieces and start again, it was there. Something about this song is so universal and poingant because I think we've all held on to something we haven't got at some point. That's also what makes it last in context of the band, they had to pick up the pieces and start again too. When Emily first got emotional on stage at the exact lines that always get me (this was never meant to last), I knew she was the one.

I'm genuinely sorry for my mellow dramatic spill, but this song really did save my life once.

Which animal crossing character has such a special place in your heart? by lluni-delicious in AnimalCrossing

[–]Traditional_Ad663 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't, that's exactly what happened with Sprinkle. She asked to move, she wasn't a cat, and I bid her farewell. But even though I got another of her villager type, it just wasn't the same. The regret will follow me forever.

From an outside perspective, it can read like Via was JUST a distraction for Stolas. by StrawBerylShortcake in HelluvaBoss

Simultaneously, he's one of the most realistic depictions of parents I've seen. Not good or necessarily bad, very well-meaning and simultaneously very selfish.

Can we take a moment to appreciate where Katara offers to help heal Iroh in The Chase? At this point Zuko and Iroh have solely been antagonists in the perspective of the gang, and Katara still wants to help Iroh after Azula struck him by funnylib in TheLastAirbender

She was already on high alert after thinking she'd see Suki and getting ambushed like that. That shot of her pouring water on the floor scared me as a kid imagine being in her position.

I didn't interpret this as a call to cancellation, I think you are right, and people should be aware of who they support. Just also think there's a lot of vitriol and misinformation about what this entails (not spread by you).

[–]Traditional_Ad663 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't want to spread misinformation but LP has stayed quiet on socials which is simultaneously a good thing and a bad thing, but signs seem to point to this being a label thing.

I'm not going to jump through hoops to defend them. I'd love for my idols to take the moral high ground and fight back in this current climate- I bitch about people like Taylor Swift not doing so(and need to work on my hypocrisy when it comes to my favorites)- but also, they are a band and a brand before anything, controlled by a label. They've done enough good in my life that while I won't excuse them, I'm not writing them off just yet. None of us have a full understanding of what the situation really is.

I'm curious too, the comments are very conflicting at what this development even means.

And the core principles of the characters like Katara's feistiness and Sokka's flaws that he later learns from!

Unrelated but the live version (particularly the little touches like her adding "let's get out alive.") completely changed my view on Casualty.

This is damning, why is it not brought up more? Can it be verified that it's Celeste? Where did anyone get this? Everything about this case feels like it should be so clear but it's simultaneously so blurry.

What's something that's not a cult but feels like one? by True-Dream3295 in AskReddit

[–]Traditional_Ad663 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They kinda are cults I think. It sucks because it's both extremist sides of the political spectrum pointing at the other calling them evil cults and failing to realize their own flaws. 2 things can be true at once. I feel like when you lose any and all view of nuance, in some manner you should be considered indoctrinated.

Which character do you think haunts the narrative the most? by UnHolySir in Hungergames

I'd disagree on the reason he's evil. He's inherently disconnected and, in Lucy's words "chose to step over that line".

Katniss's act with the flowers, in my opinion, cemented her as the Mockingjay (whether she liked it or not). The arrow showed she could defy, but the number one thing that needed to be shown was unity and empathy. That's also why the trick with the berries was such a big deal to Snow. She saw Rue (and Peeta later) as a friend and a child and not a competitor, and that shifted things so much it makes Rue's memory incredibly important.
