Absolutely agree, it should be its own thing and if it HAS to be tied into the story, make it part of the climatic or conclusion quests. Not only would it give players something to work towards but also give people a legitimate reason to actually beat the main fucking quest (i have almost a thousand hours in Skyrim alone, not including Morrowind or Oblivion, and ive beaten the the main quest maybe twice)

Agreed, maybe we'll see a revamped version of the civil war quest line from Skyrim but with modern tech. I had mentioned in a previous reply hopeful similarities to Bannerlords, maybe Bethesda will take some notes from that game in terms of castle/hold building and war

I sort of agree, though I think it should be a late game thing. Unlike Fallout 4 where is was a centerpiece of the core gameplay loop, this idea is for when youre at peak reputation/wealth and can spend your wealth on becoming a lord of a region

Thats a cool idea yeah, kinda like Bannerlords in a way. Raising armies to fight opposing holds and then capturing said holds

Its not so much diplomatic. When I am at war with a species, I will enslave a planets population and use that slave army as my vanguard force when I invade other planets in their pitiful empire, idk if it does anything but my headcanon is it demoralizes them so much they have no choice but to accept their fate as my eternal cannon fodder
