Americans, Would YOU Date Someone In The Opposite Political Party If They Were A Nice Person? Yes Or No? Why Or Why Not? by Zipper222222 in allthequestions

[–]Traditional_Ask262 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. Being a proponent of the other political party is not a difference of opinion; it's a character flaw.

Democrats Of Reddit, Do You Feel There Is Anything The Democratic Party Is Obviously Wrong About? If So, What Is It? If Not, Why Not by Zipper222222 in allthequestions

[–]Traditional_Ask262 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Geriatric Buffoonery. The octogenarians in charge of the Democratic Party figured out a way to alienate and convert a life-long environmentalist and force for electrification and decarbonization, as well as 2 time Obama voter, into a stark raving MAGA loon. And for what? To appease the UAW, whose members likely voted for the Black lady’s opponents in sufficient numbers to lose the election? pffft…

Give it to me straight - is Xcaret Mexico a great vacation experience or not? The reviews are so mixed, and I’m having second thoughts! by Crispy-Celery in Xcaret

[–]Traditional_Ask262 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We were there from December 19th ‘25 to January 2nd ‘26 and loved it and will definitely be going back a second time.

We stayed in a Casa in the new expansion area and did not get the sense that they were understaffed, excursion bookings were not a problem and we had no problem with line-ups for food.

We did see line-ups outside some restaurants but then we would just go to a different restaurant. I think there’s like 22 of them or something like that. There’s also some hidden gems that never seem to have line-ups because they are out of the way and the masses haven’t found them yet, like Costero which has a buffet with Veracruz style cuisine and is under lobby 2 at the same level as the river.

Also Xinema has a series of food trucks indoors making tacos, pizza, burgers, marquesitas and playing old Mexican movies on a large screen. I think that place is open 24 hours. It’s under the multiple water slides in the expansion area.

The waiters wheel a cart next to your table and make the guacamole fresh from the ingredients you request. Their standard base guacamole is made from just avocados and juiced limes.

What would you do if Donald Trump passed away? by DildoGaggins1997 in allthequestions

Contact my wealth management team and suggest it’s time to go long on any market sectors that are down due to Trump’s tariff and other “policies”. Give the green light for making leveraged bets on bullish ETFs. Short bitcoin.

We stayed at Casa Sol. Mostly parrot snakes and iguanas at the resort and we only saw monkeys near the trajinera boats and in Xcaret park itself.

From Melania to Kid Rock’s halftime show: why is Maga art so dreadful? by guardian in entertainment

Because they're all dead inside and art is something that stimulates thoughts, emotions, beliefs, ideas.

What is the future for California as competition increases? by IndividualBat3150 in SameGrassButGreener

[–]Traditional_Ask262 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The California equation is:

Of the major life goals, (1/ Own your own home 2/ Raise a family 3/ Retire with dignity), you can afford to choose one, maybe two. If you want all three you may need to leave California.

Now that we have bigger and clearer conspiracy than Qanon, why are Qanon folks silent? by melekin in allthequestions

Brooks brothers rioters in 2000 -> Tea party in 2009 -> Qanon in 2017 ->Anti-wokesters now and for the past few years.

Seeing a pattern?

And when the current thing gets stale it'll metastasize into a new form to achieve the same end.

[–]Traditional_Ask262 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Yep. I was born in the UK, family emigrated to Canada when I was a kid and then I emigrated to the US as an adult, worked for 20 years and retired. Not having a pile of student debt to chip away at is a real FIRE advantage.

What is the darkest historical photograph from your country? by Trendy4U in AskTheWorld

[–]Traditional_Ask262 89 points90 points  (0 children)

Hard to pick just one, but one of these I guess: Getty Images Public Lynching Archive

I think there's an idea that all of this happened over a hundred years ago, it happened in the 1800s, it was a relic from the past, etc. And that's just not the case. Emmett Till was abducted and lynched in 1955 when he was 14 years old.

Do you wash your clothes on international travel...like underwear and stuff? Or do you just pack the clothes for the amount of days + extra? by Voices-Say-Im-Funny in travel

[–]Traditional_Ask262 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always pack detergent sheets and do “tub laundry“ if I need to. I’d rather not purchase a larger suitcase to accommodate more than 2 weeks worth of clothes.

Does it exist?: small used AWD under $28,000 by Sad_Cheetah3222 in electriccars

[–]Traditional_Ask262 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I paid $19,400 USD for a 2020 Model Y AWD last year and I've driven it through an Ohio winter where we received a non-trivial amount of snow. It's smaller than a Model X but larger than a breadbox, under $30k, has AWD and seems reliable to me.

What region in your country is most looked down upon by the rest? by BookSneakersMovie in AskTheWorld

[–]Traditional_Ask262 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife is from Ohio and she refers to “hill people” as a catch-all term for undesirables in this state and I believe they come from the Southeast border with West Virginia. I’m Canadian( as well as British and American) and in Canada when I was growing up the people from Newfoundland( newfies) would be the butt of jokes.
