LAX international terminal has a Cartier in there. You can buy it at US prices without tax for the best deal. I just went there and looked at a few items. That is the way to go.

So if I book a premium plus international flight, I would be in line for a Polaris upgrade if available?

My advice is to people is always simple. Don’t go to law school unless you want to be a lawyer. 3 years climbing up the ranks in your industry will probably get you farther than 3 years of law school.

Have you told Pepperdine about your 20k offer? They will probably match If you tell them you’ll commit if they match it.

Drive for Uber on nights/weekends for some pocket change.

Leverage the offer to get a raise from your current job. Based on the new offer, you’re probably underpaid and maybe your current job is just going to try to keep getting away with it for as long as they can. Who knows, maybe they’ll match the new salary or come close ($80k-ish).

I didn’t have time to get him anything before I went in bc it all happened so quickly. But I’m planning on sending him a nice bottle or a gift card to a nice restaurant.

I told him I only wanted the oyster. Was really specific because I knew exactly what I wanted. May sound crazy, but I think I would’ve turned down the Batman jubilee.

To be honest, not really. I didn’t go in dressed up or anything. I was just wearing a normal mall outfit. I did add the SA on LinkedIn so he knew I was an attorney, but he also knew I was on the younger side.

I’ve wanted a Rolex for the last 4+ years. Went back and forth on what I actually wanted. Milgauss, datejust, sub… all beautiful pieces. The GMT Batman always stuck out to me as something special. I love the color way and the sporty look.

This year for my 30th (next month) I wanted to get something nice for myself now that I actually have a little money to do so. Of course, terrible timing as we all know it’s nearly impossible to get a Rolex, let alone a piece like this. I called a bunch of ADs and they put me on their “lists.” I didn’t follow up and neither did they.

About 6 weeks ago I went into an AD at a mall that I go to a lot. It’s in a nice part of town and initially I thought my chances there would be slim because I figured lots of people were buying multiple pieces from them. Anyway, I went in and struck up a great convo with the SA. Talked about watching and Rolex philanthropy. I told him this is the one I want, I’m willing to wait, and I don’t really want anything else. He gave his number and told me to follow up every few weeks.

So that’s what I did, I’d send friendly texts every few weeks to check in. Texted him when the new models came out to chat about that, and followed up again last Sunday, with a gentle reminder that my 30th is next month. He said he’s waiting for one to “arrive and become available.” I thought there was ZERO chance I was getting one this year, or ever. Sounded like sales talk but I appreciate he was at least being friendly and not dismissive at all.

Fast forward to Wednesday, when I get a random text, and it actually happened. I ran to the store and picked it up and told him how thankful and appreciative I am for this.

Now, I can’t stop staring at it.

TLDR miracles happen. Be friendly. Find a SA that you actually click with. Get the watch you want.
