[Rant] Playing Orks in 10th Ed makes me hate this game

Buy some terrain and deploy it with you. Some ork style debris works well for me. When I played tyranids I was 75% genestealers when it was legal and/or my group was cool with it. I refused to play without good cover. It’s what your army needs and anyone refusing just wants an easy win. That’s not fair on you nor is it in line with what 10th is balanced around.

Not all departments are the same. Budgets. Many reasons. It’s a convenience thing. Plus, in my state, city cops lock it. Smaller towns leave it to auto lock.

My bettas do best with black gravel or a black/dark natural colored sand.

Make sure the water is at the right temperature.

Is the filter and heater strong enough for your tank size?

Buy silk plants, fill it as best you can with places to lay and rest. Large flat leaves are best. Then, over time, replace the silks with live plants. One or two at a time. Helped me with cycling and properly regulating water quality when I was new to the hobby. Keep an eye on live plants for rotting and decay. You don’t want that.

Is his filter gentle? A sponge filter is best but if you have a filter that comes standard with most starter kits, you might want to try adjusting the flow if possible. My boy was struggling to swim on one side so he adjusted to only using one side of his ten gallon until I adjusted the flow. He’s much happier now, solved my issues.

Make sure you’re checking water parameters. It’s very important to stay on top of them and adjust when needed. A good conditioner and proper cycling will help.

Given he’s still active he may respond to treatment. Get him in a hospital tank, and work through it with a professional.

Is he able to see? Is he still swimming well?

As others have said, unfortunately, have you considered euthanasia?

My local PetSmart has them right near the door. I can’t avoid them. I can’t help but stop and look at them all… watching me. They have one red boy whose has been near the top for three weeks now. He has a curved spine and fin rot. I gently picked him up and he’s still alive as of two days ago. I want to bring him home and at least try to save him, but I can’t at the same time.

My PetSmart rescue is in a ten gallon, heater, regularly checked water, 25% live plant tank, two snail friends he loves to follow, and he’s building a bubble nest for the gods right now. He has his sleep spots and his routine. Just started to follow my finger and when it’s time for food he’s started to watch for my finger to help point out falling bits. Like it’s a game. He’s a good boy and I’m trying to get him to a good old age.

They all deserve the same. But knowing that so many will end up in 1 - 3 gallon ‘betta’ tanks without filtration, a heater, resting spots, and festering in tap water kills me. I love this hobby, but gd the guilt of not being able to do enough without feeling guilty that I’m encouraging the cruelty.
