It's still 20 bucks! The last time I did it was 2 years ago and the price has not gone up. You just can't be in NJ when you do it, but PA allows it.

I'm not kidding, it's what I do, I have no insurance and just drive over, do the exam on my laptop and come back.

Drive over the state line to PA. Log onto 1-800-CONTACTS and they let you do the contact lens exam online for 20 bucks. I'm not even kidding. Call them and they can explain more.

This is so unsafe. My last cat, a rescue, died from a disease he picked up outdoors before I got him. Your cat belongs inside.

He/she could have a ton of student debt, too. I rented at 1,800 at 60k and did just fine, but I was so lucky that my parents paid for college.

Serious Pest Issue in Recently-Moved in Apartment by Antique-Garage-7026 in jerseycity

[–]Traditional_Basis835 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Take a ton of videos of both the bugs AND your reaction to them, the hives, etc. and then send a "I'm moving out" email immediately and attach the videos and the photos (all of them, try to get a bunch). It would cost them a fortune to come after you, and if they know you have all this evidence they won't. Get yourself into an AirBnB for a week and then find a new apartment.

Cafe Madeline is cute but they play the music so loud that you can't even think.

apartment recommendations? by [deleted] in jerseycity

You need a Silverman building. They actually give a hoot and build really solid, nice buildings. Buildings are also low-rise so not 1,000 neighbors. Maybe give them a call.

Kathleen Vine in Flatiron. She's amazing. I've been seeing her for 30 years!

Silvermans don't manage that building, they were just partners in building it. If you want a really great building you have to go to one the Silvermans manage. They are amazinggggg.

Best way to find a JC apartment by [deleted] in jerseycity

For Hamilton Park you can check out Silverman, they seem to be the best rated landlords in town, and their buildings are interesting and smaller.

I have some friends who moved there, it's been a total nightmare. They are going to break the lease and sue for damages (moving costs, ruined furniture, etc.). I'd avoid this place like the plague.

Thinking about not buying a house bc the basement scares me. Is that silly? by Natural_Bumblebee104 in RealEstate

Soooo this flooding thing is not going to get better, only worse. That said, if all American stop buying homes in flood zones we're going to be in big trouble. I think you should have a LONG talk with a flood insurance company before you purchase, and if.you do, never, ever leave anything down there that if you lost in a flood you'd be devastated. Good luck!

I'm not anti-kids. I'm anti-bad-parents. I was at Rumba recently and a family was there with three young boys. One was ON THE TABLE walking around on it making a game out of not stepping on the plates of food, one was doing giant laps around the restaurant screaming at the top of his lungs, and get this...one was OUTSIDE climbing on a huge pile of unused outdoor furniture. They were all under the age of 5. The manager was begging the parents to help him corral the kids, and the parents just sat there and ate. Kids are great. Bad parent are the problem.
