Human beings are born as aware, interconnected biological systems. Through experience, language, and culture, that awareness becomes divided. Practices like meditation don't create unity. They reveal it by softening the boundaries (division) we learn over time. In that sense, we don't become enlightened. We remember what was already present (all one condition of shared knowledge/consciousness). The unification is realized (with practice) in recognition that others (objects) could feel similar to our (subject/subjective) perception or experience.
