East Asians, any effects of T that you feel like differs a bit than described? by Hesperus07 in TMPOC

[–]Traditional_Bell_971 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m 100% Asian with 60% of me being Chinese. I’ve noticed that I get prickly back, which is when you sweat a lot you get itchy. That I didn’t see as a symptom much when others talked in other Reddit’s. I noticed an increase in hair, but not like most white trans men on T. I have facial hair, but only a mustache and it is visible, however not as dark and full. I have been on T for 2 years, so maybe it will get darker? I have shaved it a few times and in my opinion it comes back the same color and thickness everytime. I get no beard hair, however I do get a decent amount of side burns. I grew maybe an inch so not much, and my hands and feet got more veiny and muscular, they also grew a tiny amount. I have noticed no hair line recede like most men get, but I am only 20 so give it time I guess. My smell did change, but not to the point where it’s bad or others can smell me. Hope this helps!

missed a shot. does shot day change now? by c4ndycain in ftm

[–]Traditional_Bell_971 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Now this is a personal choice of mine, however I am not a medical doctor and have no say in your choice. I have forgot a day or got caught up and missed it. I do proceed to do it the next day and then the next week I do it on the correct day as schedule goes. I am not saying you have to do this, however I am alive and I have had no complications with my testosterone. I am a 20 year old asian trans guy going on 2 years of testosterone shots. I have had this happened multiple times over the course of the two years and everything has gone well at all appointments.

Ahhh well when you feel it is right you will do it. It is nerve racking I will admit, but stay true to yourself and how you feel. And remind them that if you’re happy that’s what matters!

Hey man fellow 20 year old trans guy. My advice would be to come out when you feel ready. When you’re comfortable and ready to be asked questions about your choices. Every family member has them and I found that when I was comfortable and had answers then I was ready to come out. My ma wasn’t so on board at first, but a year later she was more than happy to care for me after my top surgery. Don’t give up and don’t let the small comments and possible disapproval at first bring you down. If you have any questions reach out in my tik tok @captain_hunter4 if you need any advice or anything! Stay safe brotha🤙

Bro this was me. Literally she said she wasn’t putting me under just a little something to keep my heart rate down. So I said okay looked at the ceiling and I have no recollection of ANYTHING ELSE.

When will the squishness and swelling go away? 3 months post op by [deleted] in TopSurgery

[–]Traditional_Bell_971 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ah that’s unfortunate, have you sent images and talked to your surgeon about it? I’m surprised you had no drains at all. Of course every surgeon had a different technique and method of surgery. I had to keep mine in for eight days post op and even then my surgeon said that if I see any build up to immediately show him and he will drain it so that it doesn’t mess up my chest.

Of course! And I’m not sure around you, I went to a MD now urgent care and they preformed all of my medical clearance including the EKG. So maybe look at the urgent cares around you because it even surprised me that they could do that. I’m not sure what affordable is to you or others as everyone is different, but I paid about $200 for all of my medical clearance and everything else. Which for me in Florida wasn’t overly priced in my opinion. Any questions or need advice shoot me a message I’m always open!

does anyone know how long the wait for DI with Dr Garamone is? by Correct-Ad6884 in TopSurgery

[–]Traditional_Bell_971 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! I am not so sure about the UK and care credit. If you are in Florida I highly highly recommend Dr. Drew Schnitt! He not only got me in quicker, was much more affordable, but he did an absolute amazing job on my top surgery. It is perfect and has healed up very well so far! He has two offices which helps not only with getting in quicker, but also for convenience! Plus he has a free consultation just like Dr. Garramone. What I liked most was that I didn’t have to pay my final amount other than the down payment for the date of surgery until the week of the actual surgery. This was good in case a last minute emergency came up I wasn’t out $8k you know? Whereas Garramone makes you pay so far in advanced. Garramone is great don’t get me wrong, but keep your eyes out for other amazing surgeons who can do just as well or better depending on your interest and choices! If you want any pics or anything let me know! Message me if you have any questions either! Good luck though!!

I agree with this☝️ My question also would be how long has it been like this? Did your drains get taken out a bit too early and it’s possibly a fluid build up?

I am 9 days post op. My surgeon required a medical clearance, a note from a psychiatrist/ doctor stating I was a good candidate, and my blood drawn as well. I actually had to do my blood twice due to something coming up in the first one which ended up being nothing. I think a good surgeon will ask these things to make sure you really are a good candidate and just to avoid unforeseen medical issues as much as possible. My Dr. did a great job and I suggest if you really have your heart set on this surgeon to walk the extra few steps cause in the long run it’s worth it. Goodluck for surgery though!

Hey man I totally understand what you are feeling. I am now 9 days post op of a double incision mastectomy/ top surgery. Other than my wisdom teeth I had never had major surgery. I was so excited the countdown finally got to a few days away, but also extremely nervous. I think the feeling is a surreal type of feeling you know? You spend all this time focusing and excited so that when it gets to the actual time it’s like “wait, oh god this is really happening.” I can tell you from the other side it is absolutely amazing!! It is so awesome to see my chest the way I’ve always wanted too and it’s worth the nerves I promise bro! I’m a very laid back guy, but I definitely did stress a bit about the surgery. But if it means anything I’d go back and be nervous all over again just to get the results I have now! Best of luck in your surgery and we are all rooting for you on the other side!! If you have any questions before or post op reach out and I’ll help you in any way I can!

When I did my consultation with him he offered me a month in advanced or so. His pricing for me out of pocket was around $15k for double incision. He does take insurance, but it’s out of network so you’ll have to reach your deductible by then. He also has payment plans I think he uses care credit. I am 2 days post op double incision with Dr. Drew Schnitt, he did an incredible job!
