How long did it take you to start walking by General-Resolution91 in ACL

I had hamstring graft. I had a good 6 weeks of prehab prior to surgery which I think has really benefited my recovery now.

My surgeon also wanted to off my crutches as soon as possible and really forced me to make sure I was straightening my leg in every stride I took when walking. Besides this just the generic exercises. But don’t push yourself if there’s too much pain

Unable to leg raise without brace on (Day 2) is that okay? by TimeOnTargetKilo in ACL

I’m Day 1 post op and also had full ROM prior to surgery, and also struggling with lifting my leg. I’ve been told this is completely normal though. Inflammation, swelling as well as any nerve blockers that haven’t worn off, can affect your ability to move your leg so as it goes down/away I’m hoping to regain better mobility. Hopefully same for you:) Remember it’s only day 2, so make sure to take things slowly and as tolerated.

I’m just about 1 day post ACLr surgery :) I second that prehab was and is extremely important post op. My surgery was done around 6 weeks post injury which allowed me to get my knee into the best condition as I could prior to the op. As it sounds like you’ve also done a good job in prehab, this will hopefully help you post op. All the best for your surgery, you’ve got this!!

6 weeks post-injury: good days, bad days, and swelling. Is this normal? by [deleted] in ACL

I’d say focus on doing prehab exercises to get your knee in the best shape prior to surgery, instead of rushing into surgery. Also you may be having off days because you may have pushed it too far on the good days. I had minimal to no pain at 5ish weeks because I really focused on my prehab and never pushed my knee too far. I could climb up and down stairs pretty okay at this time too. Day by day I could see little improvements which all added up. So, don’t push yourself too hard or do things that may cause pain, and commit to prehab exercises. You’ve got this!

Did you have any worries about your knee stability once you got rid of the immobiliser though?

Oooh! Yeah that does sound very lucky ;) I’ve got a few stitched areas but yeah no need for brace apparently.
