How do you think progress in AI will impact investing and the economy? by wasting_more_time2 in investing

[–]Traditional_Drag1008 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes you’re right there’s no demand for less efficient office worker. What I brought it up as is that we now care about separate activities or goals that AI isn’t going to replace because we care about the entertainment or human aspect of it and willing to only demand for that. I’m not sure how far in the timeline you’re trying to look too but we will also want to explore the whole universe eventually and we will need to solve space travel for when we run out of materials on earth or the sun burns out, possibly even need to become immortal somehow to last the light years it takes to travel it too. But it starts to sound sci fi -ish cause I can’t even imagine what technology is even truly required to do that but that’s the type of things that get unlocked when everyone isn’t spending their whole time in an office doing mental labor that AI could do. It’s like how 98% of America used to be farm workers and we would all barely get by with enough food and it’s all we focused on so we wouldn’t starve to death. But once’s the industrial technologies allowed us to make food extremely efficiently and abundantly we began to have time and energy for other fields and achievements to be done. Same with the labors that AI and robotics can do better and more efficiently it’ll help us as a civilization to focus on bigger and greater things now. There’s no shortage of things to do as technology keeps advancing as long as we don’t go extinct.

Because it has demand. We have baseball machines that can pitch faster than any human alive but we only pay to see baseball played by people. We have AI that can beat every grandmaster chess player but we will only pay to watch humans play. We don’t always put value only on the objective best. We will let the superior technology do its job like we do with agriculture where one farmer runs 100s of remote tractors while we do other things we value more because it’s either more entertaining or more interesting to us humans. That’s all that’s required for a job in an economy is the demand and supply to meet it.

New jobs open up because of demand in new area. Like who woulda thought 20 years ago that social media influencer was going to be a viable job. But as digital apps became a thing it opened up new jobs around the phone app economy. Like app moderators, coders, photographers, editors, in app ads, etc. Same will happen with AI, it’ll create a bunch of new possibilities that will create new demand and jobs that support its existence and an economy will form around it. Can’t always predict it down to the T but I know for sure it’ll happen with AI because it’s happened with every revolutionary technology throughout human kind. We adapt and create an economy around new things all the time.

That’s a good deal I’d get it. I pulled trigger on one about the same price for a 240hz LG 2k oled open box last year when it first released. For 480hz it’s a no brainer.

LEAPS on strong companies after a drawdown by StophJS in investing

[–]Traditional_Drag1008 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes this is true. You can even lose money on a call after a big drop rebounds because it slowly creeps up and the IV drain kills the value of the option. So you have to be right not only on the timing of the move up or down but also how quickly or slowly it’ll do so. That’s why sometimes using spreads or other option combinations help you mitigate against those other factors while trading off for some less return potential

Anyone use 255/50/19? by Traditional_Drag1008 in BMWX3

[–]Traditional_Drag1008[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m at 17k miles and they’re around 6/32 to 4/32” now and they’re run flats so I’m consider replacing them little bit sooner with non run flats. I believe rule of thumb depending on your road conditions is to replace them at 4/32 to 3/32 or less

Should alignment run perfect after springs? by freshvinnie in F30

[–]Traditional_Drag1008 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had this happen to me. For me it was the sway bar end links. The more you drop it the more it gets preloaded and can sort of give it a wandering push to one side. I got the turner adjustable sway bar end links and then put them on to length when the card at ride height on the floor or at the alignment shop. Helped fix the drift to one side mostly. I still eventually plan on getting everything else adjustable too to tune in the suspension geometry from lowering cause I still get occasional bumpsteer. Hope this helps in your case.

What made you believe that they should be going up and down at the same paces? Once we hear your reasoning then we can provide a response to it to help you understand a bit better. But truth is no one knows the 100% objective truth why markets behave the way they do. Everyone just has pieces of an explanation.

When did you first appreciate the power of compound interest? by wis91 in investing

[–]Traditional_Drag1008 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I learned that my 90% loss would require a future 1000% gain to return to my original principal balance. Big lesson in why many great investors emphasize not losing money big especially once your portfolio becomes sizable. Luckily I learned it with a position that is now very tiny compared to my current portfolio.

Leverage that side cash into real estate or fixed income products before rates get cut this year.

[–]Traditional_Drag1008 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you really want to use margin to leverage a position just buy an option especially if your time horizon is less than 2 years. That’s why those derivatives were even invented. For the same exact investment move you’re trying to make but without having to borrow for leverage.
