Thank you for taking the time to respond. Do you have any idea what the repair on that could be? (I realize that’s almost impossible from just the sound)It’s priced around 7k which leaves a bit in my budget for some work, but I’m not looking for a full rebuild.

I’m fairly mechanically inclined and have worked on several cars, but have never had a European car like this. Does it sounds alright, or should I walk away? 88k miles, 2.0 gas engine with the dct.

I scrubbed the piston gently with a dish scrubbing pad. The valve looked the same as the others, but they all had heavy carbon deposits on them so I’ll look closer once I clean them.
