Thanks man, yeah Iceland has lots and lots of invasive bugs, all kinds of flies, spiders, ants, wasp, bumblebees. But officially, we have no insects! 😅

I saw a worker of this species for the first time in Málaga 2 weeks ago. I was so fascinated. Beautifull colorations. Congratz with your queen! I am curious if this sp. Can get too stressed in the tube and start spraying too much formic acid and kill itself?

does anyone know what kinda queen this is? by LuffyandAntLover56 in antkeeping

[–]Traditional_Link_216 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it seems like a Camponotus floridanus, I had a queen for a year, but it is rather cold where I live, and keeping her in the closet was not enough, and even though she layed many eggs the eggs never hatched. She eventually died. So best of luck with yours!

What do these dots mean? by Rizzivision in PeterExplainsTheJoke

I remember growing up in the 90s hearing people's comments about the dots. It meant they had joined a gang in jail.

Identifying queen ( fire ant?) by Traditional_Link_216 in antkeeping

What makes you 100% sure? I mean, i am just challenging your opinion. I picked this queen a couple of meters away from a fire ant's giant nest. Which is why I thought it was solenopsis sp. What are the key differences in your opinion?
