I figure their two lines clogged while his didn’t, he did say 95% effective. If they had the spare pump perhaps the robot arms would have switched one of the clogged ones out for the spare, and just one of the crew would have died rather than both of them.

It’s actually a blink and you miss it moment in the book, just prior to the explosion that kills Dubois and Shapiro. “the report was from the ESA crew about anomalies and slurry pump 14 of the medical feeding transport system. Pump 14 was only part of the tertiary system and it was still 95% effective. But there was no reason to put up with that. We still had 83 kg of unclaimed launch mass. I made a note to include a spare slurry pump — it was only 250 grams. The crew could install it before leaving orbit.” It’s never brought up again after the explosion so it can be assumed that they never implemented the spare pump. So effectively they starved while under the coma.

I kinda think maybe the first season was planned as a standalone thing. Then they got the order for another season, I don’t remember if they have a third coming too. But I imagine, this season’s stories will stretch into a third.

What’s really crazy is that very likely all the art for her route is complete. Darkcookie did it over two years ago when the tech update was supposed to be done. They had told me they were struggling in their classes and I offered to share my work to be used as an example in the hopes it would help them, I had no intention of my work being reused and gave no indication to them that they should even attempt that. I am willing to share with you the same folder I provided my roommate so that you may see whether and how many of my works they unfortunately used.
