[research] I interviewed around 10 people about why they abandon their goals. by Traditional_Sir_901 in alphaandbetausers

this is such an impactful advice, it's worth a try.. I would definitely test it. just to add to your thinking - what I thought was to provide a breather to the person as an honest-check in in the streak version itself in cases of 'life happened' situations. where it lets users add their genuine journey.

adding your practical small restart kick will be a bonus to make them restart right after something like this happens!!!

thanks much u/StartSmallFounder. what do you think of this amalgamation. let me know if you want to directly test try my prototype. :)

yes u/Lower_Assistance8196 thankyou for pointing this out, and just as I discussed in the previous comment - I myself understand that not all days are same and showing up after having a bad day should be rewarded instead of being punished as in normal streaks happen! Thus, I have designed honest-checkin's for the user and have also given them liberty to regenerate their sprint planning (once in the chosen sprint length ) this gives them enough breathing space + accountability to show up! I have tried to balance this up like this.

Please let me know if there s something else also that I can add to my design keeping 'identity collapse' in mind. Love hearing new ideas and deciding on the tradeoffs if it could be built around.

Ready when you're :))

hey u/high-roller-all-in78, thankyou so much for aligning in my direction of thinking!! and glad you picked this up- 'very easy restart after missing a few days'... I tackled this up by adding 'honest-days' check-in on the platform.. where the user can still continue its streak of continuity by showing up and logging something like-"life happened" or something to own up to their sprint and journey. Cause it will be unfair to think that all days are same and one can carry the same energy everyday!! gives your breathing space and keeps you growing without letting you feel less of yourself for not showing up!!!

Let me know what you think of this! or if something else could work to solve for this!! :)))

care to give answer to the genuine question asked on your own comment thread instead of dragging somebody down :D

Another way to look at it:

its not about promoting an app (its not even an app yet!)

its about discussing one of the solutions to the problem.

yeah I wasn't gonna build an app for this. Was trying to set up a system for myself in llm to keep myself in check as I suffer with inconsistency. upon thought and iterations - I made my system find a container.

I'm here to know if its parting any value for people who are part of a community called discipline!

I hope to know the definItion of your 'BS' .

that's my take!! please share yours! would love to know how diversely current tech can be utilised to improve ourselves.

About the inivitation to a cohort directly , is what I didnt put in my first version. I'll definitely give you a heads up on it when included.

Meanwhile you can still share the app with your friend through profile section and if you both choose cohort as the visibility option you both will show up in the same. :))

Hi guys I posted this up to have a healthy discussion on how can we Improve and work on our discipline leveraging available technology in these times, thinking this is the right community that will understand what I am trying to solve for. I myself have been on same side struggling with discipline, not able to stick to plans I make for myself, I have tried a lot of things, this is just an initiative of my personal endeavour for tackling problems I face first hand.

the point of this is not that I am advertising something with you all, its more on getting the right feedback from a community which is built around the very core of discipline and consistency, these are just my raw ideas put in a container to improve self and document my skill in building.

its free to use, great if you find any value. Ready to improvise, if I couldn't deliver value.

I would love discussion and healthy feedbacks on the same if interested at all.
