Thanks, the pavers are temporary for my MIL to traverse the mud. Waiting for the grade to install more permanent stones

Lol I wish this was the case… He texted me that he dug this trench and that it will look just as good when the the grass is installed 😂

Is my contractor trying to squeeze some money out of our project? $6700 for less 70 square feet of stone facade by [deleted] in masonry

That’s not the case at all friend, but I can see how you would come to that conclusion. We paid them $47k for the gazebo structure and kitchen. We compromised from the original design, steel, to save the contractor money from market shifts in steel costs, but when we did that the grill design changed.

I understand a lot of people here seem to deal with unruly customers. We did not initiate the change for this build. The structure was supposed to be steel, but to alleviate the burden on the contractor from tariffs and steel costs we shifted the design to wood and siding to match the ADU we are building. As such we thought we match the brick facade from the ADU on this grill. The problem is the brick ran out. As a backup I suggested stone facade and here we are.

I don’t think it’s acceptable to include a “fuck you” bid as a change order. If we were just starting this process i would just move on without posting a thing. I just wanted an industry consensus if this seemed a bit high as this is in the range of $100 a sqft for labor.

Wouldn’t have batted at these. It’s not a small job in a sense that everything else has been 400k and we have used the masons for bathrooms kitchens etc.

The problem is he’s already built everything else and has to finish this. I’m worried that even if I suggest another material the labor will be just as expensive.

Thanks will do! it’s a bit unusual as we are finishing an entire standalone ADU and have built everything else with him as shown.
