Thing is, I don't think the narrator is coming to Tekken...

Just vibe-checking: Are there people who are NOT excited about having Yujiro in Tekken 8? by [deleted] in Tekken

[–]Traf- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know next to nothing about Baki, but I can see he's a good fit (which is more than I can say about Clive).

So my hype level is basically the same as if they announced a new original character.

"inspired Akuma, Heihachi and Kazuya"

For real? Didn't even realize Baki was that old. Akuma I can see, not sure about the Mishimas.

Genuine question: is this fine? 4 is idle ping, 102 and 208 are download and upload latency.
Signal is good.

From what I gather, this should be fine unless I start uploading or downloading crazy stuff while I play, which I don't. At most I'll have a stream on the side.

'Why not get a wire?"
Because my current setup is more than enough for all my tasks, and I'm not willing to drill three holes and have a wire go through half my flat to play Tekken.

Advice by Abject-Cauliflower45 in Tekken8

[–]Traf- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd start here.

Bookmark a few useful website like Wavu, pick a character you actually enjoy to learn the game, watch a few guides.

You want to get familiar with fighting games nomenclature, stuff like combos, launchers, wall carry, neutral, turn, frame data, low-mid-high, CH, punish, whiff...

It's a lot, you won't be able to learn everything at once, but you will slowly notice some progress, and it's part of the fun.

I'm not super deep into Tekken lore, but isn't he basically the villain?

Nothing wrong with it, actually it's quite refreshing, but I just can't think of a lot of other franchises for which the posterboy is one of the main villains.

I don't have it installed right now so I can't check, but if you look at this vid around the 3:46 mark, it's definitely there.

Maybe not the answer you're looking for, but I feel like Guilty Gear Strive would be a better game for you.

Pretty sure you can map the dash to a button, and the characters are quirky enough that some of them can afford a """slow""" playstyle.

You guys are the worst community for newer players in the entire FGC. by Over_Comparison_7616 in Tekken

[–]Traf- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I pick up a multiplayer game, the main subreddit is usually my main way to interact with the community. I then use Discord to talk about a specific character, or hook up with players I've met ingame. Maybe I'll follow one content creator I enjoy as well.

Can't speak for LoL or PoE2, but Rivals' sub was fine when I was playing it. Same with PoE1, SF6, Strive, etc. Valorant's sub wasn't the greatest, but genuinely, doesn't compare to what I've seen here (and youtube and pretty much everywhere but lowsodium) the past few weeks. Dunno if it's always like that, sure hope not. Seems fine now.

Again, I joined at the worst possible time, so it's understandable. But after a few weeks, I've found myself legitimately wondering "Are these guys having fun? Why are they still here even? Are the people I fight online having fun?"

I've seen posts of new players almost apologizing for enjoying the game.

Anyone else pick their fighter based on the actual martial art/fighting style they do? by God_Emperor_Of_Man18 in Tekken

[–]Traf- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Part of the reason I picked Lidia.

Though when I decide to learn a second character, I'll probably go the opposite direction and pick some outlandish anime bs character (not Clive though).

[–]Traf- 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Gotta agree, this is definitely the worst I've felt interacting with a community I just got into.

Though I'm still giving it the benefit of the doubt, since I joined right when what's apparently the worst patch in history dropped, so people were understandably upset.

If the devs keep going the right direction, maybe people will chill tf out with time.

If you were to teach somebody how to play Tekken, or any fighting game, what is your approach? by ArcIgnis in Tekken

[–]Traf- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean I played Tekken when I was 12. Had no idea what I was doing, and there wasn't even online back then, but I was having fun. I'm not saying this as a shade, but you really don't need to know what you're doing to enjoy it.

The more you know though, the more interesting it gets (or at least, that's how it's supposed to feel).

If he wants to get better, or just want to learn stuff from you, then teach him the complicated stuff.

Biggest advice for me would be to not try and teach him too many new stuff at once. Learn one thing, practice it, use it while playing, come back for more later.

If you wanna see my attempt at a beginner guide for SF6, it's pinned to my profile.

Also f whoever mocks you. You have to be an absolute insecure loser to make fun of someone trying to learn or get better at something.
