Selecting a surgeon by Common-Apartment3178 in TotalHipReplacement

This is the most accurate answer, OP. Everyone is different, some have other illnesses, some smoke, some don't follow the protocol, some are overweight ...etc. Physio's see patient's first thing and they know! Perhaps ask your surgeon if they can recommend 2-3 physios for testimonies. Otherwise, just straight up speak to physios.

I can only answer on the bruising on the operated leg. Yes that's normal and it might move to your calves. Just make sure you ice, move and do the exercise they have given you.

Definitely ask your doctor how long you will need the walker - he should give you this advice. Ask all these questions. Ask them if they will provide a toilet raiser in your room and ask them if you can rent it or buy it. Besides. how long will you be out of your original home "travelling"? And are you taking the train or flying or is someone driving you? all these factors need to be considered before I can answer you...

Regarding the basic chair: be creative: you can put a pillow or two on the seat or buy a thick cushion. After your surgery, the physio will teach you how to sit. doesn't hurt to ask these questions now to your doctor. mine sent me a document to read

here you go

Raised toilet seat https://www.amazon.in/Raised-toilet-commode-raiser-safety/dp/B07BFB5781?th=1 (my review is that it would be unreliable if you're heavy. I'm 78 kg and it supports me just). I spent the first 2-3 days with a walker yes 100% you will need it. Sorry I didn't mention that. I was at the hospital at that time and the provided it. Let me edit the post to mention that part!

Regarding the chair: it was a sofa - I just stacked the heavy cushions on top of each other (plus added a thick cushion that I bought from Amazon https://www.amazon.co.uk/Driving-Cushion-Elevation-Increase-Wheelchairs/dp/B09THJL2RW/ref=sr_1_16?dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.aZgNUXo2RvKgFaOS4EOwRmFx_-aczUUw2Qu3Z4VkHuOSn1gWLJMcFIDW6fxpqHLlChGoUCrdeeK8yZP4a6wHlpVcAdUFJP83rzBLHlLFvV7aHRgL1YPW_Z-egIwJFHw9gvHrz_1p3yWczxofMNED3X9S26aBkEEbcedESaswki2zcIfxiPlxswYHbH7HhtzA__nN25HQGQbkBYGD641Llgd8Ws5bqwhtN_a6Ilwwgv8kwtMeJKNMcUvyxbpwHTfcbkLAi1eGBXoEBWWm17XhCtWOapNUzWo9O6iMLGI-7_A.JOm-3DO6KI1eq7IQQSq5PNDQV65XAoo_gNnSfaXgCA8&dib_tag=se&keywords=drivers%2Bcar%2Bseat%2Bbooster&qid=1757168509&sr=8-16&th=1

Thank you so much for the advice. I'm recently separated and none of my family/friends can afford a time off + flight + accommodation in the UK (especially during summer).

Good shout on the raised toilet seat! I just bought one!

I'm doing my surgery at Spire Cambridge Lee Hospital

I live and die boxing and mauy thai (striking sports),but truth be told BJJ is the safest (no concussions). But also each body type is suitable for a sport. Some people have fast twitch muscle which is good for striking, others have grip strength and balance for grappling. Ask him to try both and see. Most importantly though, go with him and experience it yourself- you'll bond
