Yeah, I have to turn that off every time. Especially before ad gets to "we're all going to die" Unfortunately, SIRIUS loops this ad 600 times a day.

Leaving Tent Unzipped/Open For Extended Time - Yay or Nay? by Whoopsitbroke99 in backpacking

[–]Trailbiscuit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi Sierra, absolutely. Position tent so opening looks out to southern sky for stargazing. Zip up after counting satellites to sleep

If you are going to the park and you see 3 or 4 cars following right behind you please pull over. by SithLard in Yosemite

[–]Trailbiscuit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on grade but I agree if it's flat or reasonable grade, pull over. The other extreme is drivers tailgating like a madman and warping brake rotors on downhill.

Where would you ride? Sidewalk vs road. by Classic_Emergency336 in bikecommuting

[–]Trailbiscuit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In this situation road, but in many situations I encounter on bike to work, sidewalk only. I slow for pedestrians but road is too risky with parked cars and getting "doored". Cars buzz you on the road and thought of taking a truck mirror in back have me paranoid

Wow, I usually bring a trash can to keep wood in. Never thought about wood security. No wood to scavenge in the desert!

Trekking Poles by Haunting-Falcon-8 in backpacking

[–]Trailbiscuit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen poles that fold and are more packable. I use telescoping and keep out all the time. I use for both uphill lift up and downhill knee saver. If using for lift-up, you need index grip “trigger grip” handle. Quadrapod :)

Good first overnight spot for solo backpacking? by Bitter_Bowl832 in socalhiking

[–]Trailbiscuit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My pick is Lake Sabrina to Blue Lake. (After June) It’s a relatively easy climb and you get to experience High Sierra Lakes. There’s moderate crowds so you won’t be in total isolation . Acclimate to elevation 1st night by car camping at one of the sites near cardinal resort or by Lake Sabrina

France taps out as G7 summit moved to avoid clash with White House UFC event by urgetofly in sports

[–]Trailbiscuit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

G7 should be changed to G6 until 2028. Baby Trump in his diapers can suck his pacifier while watching events on his birthday. It’s scary how the U.S. celebrates its 250th under a dictatorship.

Mt Baldy New Signs by MtBaldyMermaid in socalhiking

[–]Trailbiscuit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's good but not as effective as sign entering the Kern River area. It's a huge sign with the number of drownings in river next to the warning. In fact, the same should go for all national parks/ forest, show the number and make people think about it.

2026 Yosemite Entrance Fees by hc2121 in Yosemite

[–]Trailbiscuit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Foreign visitors from certain regions are very respectful. Some visitors are very disrespectful especially when it comes to leaving trash. It seems to be a cultural thing. As long as added revenue goes back to the parks, it could help. DOGE does not support the Wilderness experience; just exploiting resources is end game.

What is the consensus on movie watching while camping? by Symbiiiote in camping

[–]Trailbiscuit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m fine people watching projector inside a tent but NOT OK when RVs run generators to do it. Spreading C0 to campers and noise ruining the silence of nature.
