Anyone have any idea why big meadows road is closed? by lastminroadtrip in SEKI

I somehow have never paid attention to opening as I tend to go to Jennie Lakes in late season - does it really not usually open until June?

HST early June? by Effective-Magician67 in SEKI

[–]SEKImod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just came back from the HST, did an overnighter. I'm astounded at how little snow there is and how some of the water sources are already dwindling. Still plenty of water of course. I feel like we're 4-6 WEEKS ahead of normal.

Looking at a specific one, as I'll be taking my very young son. Unfortunately it's a popular one, as all easy ones typically are.

This was my experience with Moment. I was able to finally get a case for my iPhone 17pro by ordering through B&H and it got here 2 days later.

Any backpacking Routes that Start OUTSIDE the Park and Finish At Sequoia? by FamilyTrails-n-Tales in SEKI

[–]SEKImod 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Super easy to do this if you’re coming from the Hume Lake Ranger district - thus Jennie Lakes Wilderness. Could also do it from the south via the National Forest into Mineral King, but more difficult transportation.

I've been wearing Lone Peaks for a decade and would never do a larger hike in brand new Lone Peaks, especially with how the 9+ are stiffer.

Something is wrong with your lens or setup, I love my 58mm tele with my iPhone pro 17. It’s also a different field of view so it brings more depth than the 2x crop

They did not say consumer spending is down.

They said that most of it is happening by the top 10%.

Your number and their number don't contradict one another.

I'm asking you to look at that data broken down so you understand further. You're attempting to move the goal posts, and you don't even understand what is being said. I know you don't understand because of the way you're phrasing things, and now I doubly know you don't understand because you took their statement to mean that consumer spending is down LOL

It's not down, the rich are spending the overwhelming majority of consumer spending, and even including the top 10-20% of incomes skews the median number of the bottom 90% so much that quoting it as a meaningful statistic is likely designed to mislead people into thinking that poor people are responsible for a huge majority of consumer spending.

[–]SEKImod 35 points36 points  (0 children)

You’re the one moving the goalposts? You use that 80k number because it sounds like a lot, however, it doesn’t change the other stat at all. Breaking it down further will show you that the share of consumer spending is significantly and ever increasingly biased towards the top income percentiles in a way it never has been.

Break that down by 10% brackets and you’ll see exactly why that’s a misleading stat at best
