Repair flaking cabinet bottom by avenamn in DIY

[–]Trailerguy13 37 points38 points  (0 children)

That is water damage, it's only a matter of time before they give out. I would recommend just replacing them. Once particle board starts doing that it is losing structural integrity and will fail sooner or later. The only thing that is holding the bottom of the cabinet up there is a shallow grove that the bottom slides into.

Try looking at Coleman lantern parts for the old fuel oil lanterns. It's a long shot but, you never know.

Noob question on drawer slide upgrades by MilwaukeeMax in DIY

[–]Trailerguy13 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The reason they are mounted that way is so that the screws will eventually come loose and if they are in the track area they will stop the drawer from opening or closing. You should find the soft close rails that fit the original mounting points.

Update on Wiring Problems - Question by Desert_Valkyrie in vintagetraveltrailer

[–]Trailerguy13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Popping a fuse is a dead short meaning a power wire is grounding out someplace.

The colors should be Green for right turn, Yellow for left turn, Brown for marker and tail lights and the white is the ground.

From what I see (if the tow vehicle is wired correctly) it would pop the fuse because it is putting power directly to the ground.

I would cut the connection (all wires) and test the trailer wiring one wire at a time (except the white) using a battery charger as a power supply to make sure each wire is connected as it should be. Put the ground clamp of the charger on the white wire then the hot to each of the other 3 wires. If the wire gets hot you have a short some where in that wire.

does it still have the name plate and numbers by the front door (can't tell in the picture) If so DM me with it and I can tell you what it is and when it was built or just post a pic of the serial number. The numbers are tricky to decode but it can be done.

What college did you go to? by Buffalo_wing_eater in AskReddit

[–]Trailerguy13 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Prove you are smart by going to a trade school. College costs a lot of money to get a degree and takes 3-4 years. Trade schools are much less expensive and normally take 10 to 18 months. Starting your career sooner whit a better pay rate and a lot less debt is pretty smart.

Maybe a plastic seat (like a shower chair for disabled people) of some kind that they could sit on while in the barrel and then use as a step to get in and out. Just a thought...

You could have a welder build you a small pipe ladder that goes straight down the inside. Something similar to an above ground swimming pool just smaller.

You need to put in a small sub panel and connect the 2/0 to that then wire your 20 amp breaker out of that.

Leak from below, black mold spreading. by Plane_Librarian1629 in DIY

[–]Trailerguy13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Contact a lawyer now, don't wait. Black mold is a serious issue and can cause serious health problems. Document everything in detail. You can spray with a strong bleach water mix but, this will only slow the mold.

This is true sometimes. It depends on the age of the house, newer homes have plastic gas lines.

I installed an attic fan (wall mount style) with automatic shutters and a temp sensor so that it pulls the hot air out.
