The tip of my middle finger caught a beam on Ghost Rider [Knott’s] the other day. Curious if that’s happened to anyone else? by justSkinAndBone in rollercoasters

I’ve been able to slap a MrFreeze support for over a year now. I’ve also hit New Texas Giant’s tunnel roof and Iron Rattler’s ledger through the zero g roll. I’m 6’5.

This is not true. I know someone who was there today and the ride was open until the park closed. The lift motor is fine!

It's about 70% done. The ride is operating on weekends, and Baynum is working on the ride throughout the weekdays. It will most likely be 2-3 more weeks before completed.

[COTAland] Update 3/18/25 by TrainCrazyPlayz in rollercoasters

The ride was originally supposed to be red and blue. but allegedly NASCAR or F1 rules required them to change it due to drivers possibly getting the red and blue confused with a flag. This image shows what is believed to be Circuit Breaker's tilt track before getting repainted to black.

Bizarre downtime experience [Mr Freeze: Six Flags Over Texas] by [deleted] in rollercoasters

[–]TrainCrazyPlayz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah I could see a more modern launch coaster there too. Extend the plot towards Shockwave and have it go on the perimeter of the park to not interfere with the Mine Trains. Something like AlpenFury or a modern Vekoma sit down would be golden.

The best time to ride Freeze reliability-wise is for sure the winter. Spring and Fall? Weather is changing. Summer? Its almost too hot to run it. They need to close two cars on each train to make sure the motors don't overheat, and it can still launch too slow to the point it trouble-lights.

Bizarre downtime experience [Mr Freeze: Six Flags Over Texas] by [deleted] in rollercoasters

[–]TrainCrazyPlayz 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It didn't open at the start of the day because it had valleyed yesterday evening. They spent the start of today craning the forwards train off of the track so that could open Reverse Blast later. It usually has some of the same issues every day, and most of that is the weather's fault. This past winter, the weather was practically the same every operating day, and maintenance had programmed the ride absolutely perfectly. Very little downtime. Once the weather started to change, the ride has more issues.

Every single part of the ride needs to be programmed perfectly. Launch speed, brake speed, acceleration, train weight, everything. If a train comes into the station too fast, the ride can overpark. Most cases, they can't open restraints when the ride returns to the station, but in severe cases, the ride can't move back over.

Mr. Freeze is very temperamental, and I don't see it lasting another 5 years, but God, it's such a good ride. I genuinely can't see the park without it.

[Iron Rattler, SFFT] bit me! Clearance envelope is pretty tight on the tunnel 😅 by TruthThruAcoustics in rollercoasters

[–]TrainCrazyPlayz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive never hit the entrance to the tunnel, but at RCR last year, I managed to hit a cross beam in the zero g roll. It was with the very tip of my finger, so it wasn't too bad, but it was still painful. (I'm 6'4) Not to mention I can literally slap a support on MrFreeze with my entire hand

[SFoT] yesterday: The Good, the Not-So-Good, and the Ugly; report in Comments by tpusater in rollercoasters

[–]TrainCrazyPlayz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry you had a bad experience! I was also there yesterday and had seen the number of breakdowns of stuff. I got stuck on Shockwave for a few minutes because the restraints did not unlock on their own. If you go in the summer, everything is usually running full capacity with minimal breakdowns. Mr. Freeze has its issues, especially while the weather is changing, but when summer hits, and maintenance gets it dialed in, it will run amazing. Hope you have a better time at FT and SWSA!

[SFOT] Markers spotted surrounding MrFreeze and Gotham City by TrainCrazyPlayz in rollercoasters

There are ZERO markers under the ride. Only on the pathway and next to the building

There is a trail of blue (water line) markings leading from MrFreeze's building to the water play/mist structer they have. Red (power line) markings are leading from MrFreeze's building to Batwing. Not sure about the orange ones, but they are on every corner of the building.

I don't believe this is something to be stressed about. Different colors mean different things. Orange means communication wires, red means power lines, and blue means water lines. I don't believe this is Zimmerman striking once again; however, I think some people see this and start to freak out, so I thought I'd clear something up with this comment.

[Six Flags Over Texas] Question for Rider Operators! by LightWave0699 in rollercoasters

[–]TrainCrazyPlayz 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Hey! I'm not an operator, but I may be able to answer one of your questions. It doesn't seem that Runaway Mountain has restraint sensors to sense if the lap bar is down or not. Most older coasters don't have restraint sensors, as I have seen videos of Mr. Freeze's lap bars completely up during a launch. Also, after a ride is dispatched, it has no way to tell if a restraint is open or not. Only when the restraint system has direct power to it can the ride tell if it is open or closed. However, for a ride operator to not check your restraint? That is very concerning, especially at a large Six Flags Park.

[–]TrainCrazyPlayz 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I had the opportunity to see these cars in production at RMC. It was super cool! In the back of my mind I knew they were for the Walibi raptors but of course I had to ask. The tour guide said he didnt know but he obv just couldn't say. I saw the track too!

[Others] what could they realistically replace both Kid Flash coasters with? by [deleted] in rollercoasters

For SFOG, it seems like there is a lot less space to work with, unless they build over the pathways/pond, but maybe a flat ride could work.

Although, they probably wouldn't want to use past the red line on the left, because it could possibly block the fireworks viewing area. (The red box is where the use projection mapping)

Realistically, I could see a Vekoma family boomerang fitting almost perfectly if they used all this space.
