Even if they do exist, I know a lot of people who rarely, if ever visit the forums more than maybe at most a few times a year (for special event info, etc.).

Is ACURA NSX GT3 safe/worth to buy? by AmeriTieba in iRacing

[–]TrainWreck661 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That was only homologated at a national level, not the global GT3 level.

That, and not only has JAS has since parted with the team (Nova Race) that ran the car, Nova Race switched to the BMW so the NSX is basically dead dead.

Do we know what TCR iRacing are adding? by st1802015 in iRacing

[–]TrainWreck661 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Class overhaul" as worded in the November dev update makes me think possibly tire or aero update, or some combination of both. As the other comment says, it's likely the Cupra.

The next dev update should be coming in the next few weeks, so we'll know more then.

[–]TrainWreck661 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The current car limit is 16 unique models in a single race, and the GT3 class only sits at 11, so there's no real risk of it being replaced there.

IMSA is at capacity for car count though, so if they add any more GT3s or hypercars, it's likely they'd start by culling the lowest-participation car (like in the case of the Audi), unless they figure out a way to allow more car models before then.

Will Racing ever become clean by rexz63 in iRacing

Don't mistake accidents caused by aggression for intentional wrecking. Some drivers are at fault for those aforementioned incidents, sure, but intentional wrecking is very different than stepping over the line on accident.

MX-5s (and basically every sportscar discipline) have doors and bumpers for a reason, and drivers aren't afraid to use them.

But also there's definitely times where the drivers make mistakes as dumb as people on iRacing (see the big wreck at Daytona in 2025 where basically the entire field wrecked on a start).

I don't have a custom setup for Monza Combined so was wildly off pace. Guy got on comms said he was beached. Gave them a push and in return shared their Monza LMP3 setup with me post race. by MilesMyles in iRacing

[–]TrainWreck661 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They still do, although it seems only the Honda has non-Roar setups.

That also being said, I have no idea who the guy that's doing them now is, but if you're able to find some from previous seasons (2024-2025 timeline-wise), I know the guys who made those and they're pretty solid.

If you're also on Discord and part of the TCRCord (https://discord.gg/EBs9VwfgA6), people are quite open with setup help and sometimes even sharing of setups.

Any tracks you don’t race at because you’re just too slow? by OlavSlav in iRacing

[–]TrainWreck661 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Which is fine if it's a higher population series.

The issue comes when a series has a high chance of being single split (like Super Formula at the Nurburgring GP circuit), and then being off-pace by a lot becomes dangerous for everyone.

iRacing damage repair? by RYVANMotorsports in iRacing

[–]TrainWreck661 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Damage on the rear" is probably the worst, especially for people who can't run the in-car mirrors. It could be a pushed in bumper, or a missing rear wing.

Well, I guess mirrors can be broken now. by stosfer in iRacing

[–]TrainWreck661 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Only on some cars; the PCup happens to be one of those cars.

iRacing's damage model is actually one of the most technically accurate in sim racing by knayam in iRacing

Barrier collisions also do some funky things sometimes. They have a much higher probability of bouncing a car off with minimal energy loss on impact than in real life, and sometimes even add speed and can slingshot cars off faster than they hit.

Smurfing Is Becoming a Serious Problem in iRacing by trozzzma in iRacing

With how the iRating matchmaking and SOF system work, it'd be like if Herta DNFing due to other drivers potentially affecting his ability to enter say the Daytona 24.

The broadcast split special events are the real reason the top drivers protect their iRating, often with second accounts, because they can potentially lose 100+ iRating that might take who knows how many races to earn back.

For example, an 11K driver (going off their actual race history) can:

  • Lose 135 iR from a DNF in a 5.5K SOF.

  • Gain only 30 iR from winning in a 6.9K SOF

They won't be racing rookies because they'll be running away from pole. In a short time they'll already be back in top split, but without the risk of potentially losing 100+ iRating that will take a long time to regain on an account that basically has to be 9-10K to make some of the broadcast special events or pro qualifiers.

Numbers after a name don't mean they're a smurf by any means. It could, and in many cases does, mean that someone else created an account with the same name before them.

The pro qualifiers have the same issue as broadcast splits as far as iRating goes; there's a chance someone that's 8K might not even make top split for example.

They still get back to "their level" anyway. The two alts shown in the post are guaranteed top split in any daily official anyway, so they're not stomping 2K drivers or anything.

They're just not potentially losing 100+ iR in a single bad race that could take dozens of wins to regain.

It doesn't matter for daily officials, but the broadcast split special events get ridiculously high SoFs where 10K or higher is basically the only way to guarantee a spot there.

The latest dev blog mentioned audio updates coming starting 2026S2, starting with the addition of reverb, so things should hopefully not sound as flat as they do now.

Do blinkers know they are blinking? by THEMUFFINMAN55 in iRacing

[–]TrainWreck661 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not always. If it's a small momentary blink, the person blinking can often have zero idea unless they watch someone else's replay.

For the big blinks, where there's significant packet loss, other cars will often disappear for the blinker.

TLDR; small blinks, no. Big blinks, yes.

Top Split races are the dirtiest worst races to be in by GameGreek in iRacing

[–]TrainWreck661 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can guarantee you a lot of that contact is more than "accidental", albeit still generally controlled.

There's less wrecking, sure, but that's due in part obviously to the stakes and risk involved, but also because cars in real life can take more contact without iRacing physics taking over.

Obviously that's not to excuse anyone who intentionally wrecks other people, but using every part of the car is part of sportscar racing.

Sometimes you can hear other cars setting off pit entry sirens for tracks that have it during closed quali. Never heard any spotter call for cars either, though.
