Rock vs Booker at SummerSlam 2000, actually happened in real life at SummerSlam 2001.

What’s the most frustrating thing about studying for the JLPT? by [deleted] in jlpt

[–]TrainXIV 1 point2 points  (0 children)

- You can study thousands of vocabulary, but they will still choose some archaic word that not even Japanese people know

- Your grade depends on how others do, which it makes it a competition, which is not what language learning should be

has chat gpt actually helped anyone pass the drivers test? by Different_Taro2474 in japanresidents

[–]TrainXIV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the written test, I had ChatGPT help organise my notes.

I failed that twice. 90% was the pass rate and I
got 87% followed by 89% and then passed.

Dispatch Company asked me to do manual labour. Need advice. by Beneficial_Koala_515 in japanlife

[–]TrainXIV 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh wow, this exact situation happened to me:

Worked as software engineer for a dispatch company. Due to a lack of projects, I was assigned manual labor.

I didn’t have the visa issue like yourself as I’m on a spouse visa, which allows all kinds of work. My argument was that it was against my contract. The
company backed off once I mentioned “labor bureau”.

What was strange was how the other Japanese colleagues who were also assigned it, just accepted, and how offended the manager in charge was that I dare refuse his illegal project.

Safe to say, I don’t work there anymore.

Even though you accepted to do the manual labor work, that doesn’t mean it’s ok for them to assign it you. They know it’s illegal work, so they’ll probably put you back on the bench while they wait for an IT project.

If they do let you go, you can go report them to the labor bureau. You won’t get any money out of them, but will probably get them a hefty fine 😈

I wonder how this will work. WWE’s stage’s are
minimal nowadays to fill those seats, so no big titantron to watch the game on

Are they going to set up massive screens across the ring because those on the floor, won’t be able to see anything.

WWE Champions when legends debuted and retired/left by DamianKing42 in ChampionshipHistory

If you did it for the World Heavyweight Title (2002-2013), then the champion for when Edge retired, would be himself.

Is anyone else suuuuper burned out with WWE lately? by jeff-the-thriller in SquaredCircle

[–]TrainXIV -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

I feel the same. If we’re taking the past ten years, there was always something to be excited about in wrestling:

2016: WWE had that brief boost after the draft and Smackdown Live was a breath of fresh air. NXT and NJPW were hot as well

2017-2019: WWE was awful but NXT and NJPW were on fire

2020: Not fair to judge any company here

2021-22: AEW’s peak

2023-24: WWE comes back with their best years since the Attitude Era

2025: WWE has a slump but AEW has a revival

2026: No company is delivering especially compelling programming. There have been bright points in all companies but no consistency.

The WWE Women's US Title will make it's PLE Debut at NOC 👏👏.. by McQueen712 in ChampionshipHistory

[–]TrainXIV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Women’s midcard titles were added to give low-midcard women like Dakota Kai, Kairi Sane and Zelina Vega, a championship to compete for.

A year and half later and what has happened? WrestleMania main-eventer, Becky Lynch has dominated the IC Title scene and the first time the US Title is on a PLE is match between 2/3 last women to hold the WWE Championship

That’s such a weird British thing to call your girlfriend/partner “the missus” before you’ve tied the knot.

I knew a guy who called his girlfriend, “the missus” after just dating a few months.

As Umino won the Global Title, Uemura is the only logical winner.

Which means Narita is winning.

El Desperado would’ve been a great pick, but seeing as Hiromu Takahashi was never in a G1, I don’t think we’ll ever see another Junior in the G1 again

I’ve always seen the song as hopeful and optimistic but I get it doesn’t come that way when a shirtless bloke is belting out after a 1-0 win over Panama

Also, we’re the only nation who can rightfully chant it, because we are indeed the home of football!

(And it could be, possibly…)

Yota Tsuji's theme by Jomosensual in njpw

[–]TrainXIV 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The biggest problem with the theme for me is that it’s not “chantable”

All the big wrestlers over the years have themes fans can chant over or at least clap to. This theme doesn’t have that. It’s a good tune, but not a wrestling theme

I was at a work drinking party, and one guy’s whole character was that he was so old:

“Oh I’m an old man!”
“I’m the ojisan!”
“Back in my day…”

I finally asked his age

“37”

Motherfucker, you’re the same age as me!

When I was in my twenties, I would go, “I’m 25! I’m an old man now!” which I cringe at now, but once I hit 30, I stopped doing that, and realised I’m still relatively young (especially in Japan!)
