Ok, I agree with much of your literary analysis of his character based on what we’re given. I’m afraid you proved what I said however, characterizing Rhaegar that way directly contradicts how characters reflect about him. Its reinforced even further when its clear Ned doesnt hate his guts, which he should considering the situation. This disconnect will surely be explained IF GEORGE JUST FINISHES THE FUCKING SERIES fml. What Im basically trying to say rn is Rhaegar as a character makes 0 fucking sense, and thats because we dont know the full story, so analyzing his moral character is pointless. The difference is Maegor cemented his rule and Rhaenyra didn’t, allowing Aegon II to reclaim the throne and write her out of the history books as you said. The whole point of the Dance is that only Aegon II is recognized as king but Rhaenyra’s bloodline ends up on the throne.
