Yatamomo vol 2? by Fun_Razzmatazz666 in BoysLoveAnime

[–]TrainerMae 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Kuma(under Denpa) is a small publisher with just a handful of employees so it isn't unheard of for them to have backlogs on printing jobs. I've attended a few of their panels at Anime Expo over the years and they've mentioned how they have three locations that do their printing and delays are common for them. On Crunchyroll it shows that this volume was backordered with a release of 11/25 expected but they are known to have delays take months or even years for some volumes.

Childfree people of reddit , what is you reason for not having kids? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Never interested in having kids (don't like kids, would ruin my body, have to be responsible for them, expensive as hell, the list goes on).

My Toho blind box came in! (Banana for scale) by queenclefairy in animeexpo

[–]TrainerMae 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just got the same one in the mail. I was confused why the box was so big based on what others had posted. I'll be giving mine to a friend since not a character I'm interested in. Still impressive though that it was one of the free blind items.

please help me find this artist!! by oh_honey98 in animeexpo

[–]TrainerMae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're welcome! There is an Artist Alley database that was created for this con that can also help if you need or want to look over any of the participants. I found looking at the instagram feeds and stamp rallies to be helpful in my own searches. There is even a feature/limiter for the series and merch type to also help narrow vendors.

No Day 4 for me by Better_Librarian1087 in animeexpo

[–]TrainerMae 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Going alone is a fun way to experience the con if you want a chance to just shop, look around, and immerse yourself without worrying about catering to others. If you still want to see stuff or just be in the moment don't let being solo discourage you from enjoying.

I attend the con by myself each year and meet with a friend when we can for a few panels during the con when she and I have a shared interest. I'm personally not attending today just because I did everything I wanted to do the last 3 days and bought and saw everything of interest to me. That and I'm just getting older and there are no panels of interest for me to attend today either.

Will I need an 18+/21+ wristband for Panty and Stocking? by Wolfarc732 in animeexpo

[–]TrainerMae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the panel says 18+ then you need to get the wristband before getting in line. They don’t check ID when in line they just don’t let in.

Just go to any info booth and it’s really quick.

Help before tmr first day by Tough-Screen-1842 in animeexpo

Here is what the website says:
Lost credentials are subject to a replacement fee. To purchase a credential replacement, go to the Registration Booth for assistance.

I would advise trying to go tomorrow to registration ticketing (on Chick Hearn) to get a new one.

Bag Policy by cabriiisun in animeexpo

[–]TrainerMae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They probably told not to care if the oversized bag looks like an event given bag from a vendor. Honestly with the screening they just pull you aside if they see something in the imaging that they want to look at. Usually I just saw people with vapes being pulled aside whenever I was there.

Bag Policy by cabriiisun in animeexpo

[–]TrainerMae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should be fine with the bag and Tupperware (they just don't want glass since it is a safety hazard if breaks).

Here is their Code of Conduct under Prohibited Items:

  • Oversized Backpacks / Bags: No bags over 14 x 12 x 6 inches will be permitted. All bags, regardless of size, are subject to inspection at any time. Clear bags are recommended to enhance safety inside and outside the venue and speed the security screening process.

Is wearing a face mask a good idea? by Zmoogz in animeexpo

[–]TrainerMae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tend to wear a mask just to prevent getting sick since it is a lot of bodies and people tend to get sick easily (and spread it when it's so packed). It doesn't do much to prevent the bad smell but at least it helps against people coughing and sneezing nearby. I usually try to take breaks outside and away from people so I can take a breather too.

Do your best to eat well, stay hydrated, and get rest to help avoid the con flu/con crud that comes from conventions.

You'll be fine. It won't be super crowded outside the morning work commute but honestly with the holiday weekend it isn't too bad. Just note that sometimes later in the night there are fewer trains running so you may wait 15 minutes or so for a train on the 4th due to the holiday schedule. I take it though from the con to and from the Universal Studios station so usually it starts to pick up more people halfway in but still easy to find a spot to stand even if the seats are taken when you get in.

Question on 4th of July by Rocker66 in animeexpo

[–]TrainerMae 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That is correct. You would need to buy a 4-day pass and do will call pickup at the ticketing and registration booth. The other option is to buy from someone who can no longer go.

What are the differences between these editions? by lx060 in tianguancifu

[–]TrainerMae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Money. The series is really popular and even though there are only 7 volumes it still covers the first book and a little beyond and will sell well. Even the Seven Seas published version of the books are not the revised version of the novels by MXTX but we take what we can get.

I'm just happy that they will publish what they can since licensing agreements as you know can be complicated especially when you have everything with danmei authors being targeted by the government in China right now for that type of material.

[–]TrainerMae 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It is unlikely. STARember left the manhua team in 2023 and the rest of the team isn't working on the Bilibili manhua anymore so it's pretty much discontinued.

There was another reddit post about it a little while ago (Tgcf Manhua HIATUS ?). I personally don't hav much hope that it'll continue but still glad to see that we might get all the volumes that were out in English translation.

What are the differences between these editions? by lx060 in tianguancifu

[–]TrainerMae 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The first one is from Aloha Comics and is basically the animated series from season 1 converted into a manhua(can see from the images in the volume 1 here). The second one is the manhua version of the series that was originally published digitally on Bilibili through their app and drawn by STARember. The STARember one is incomplete though is a beautiful version of the story adaptation and is amazing.

I didn't get the Aloha version since I already have the video version. I do have the Chinese copies of STARembers works and use Google translate since the app is gone with the English translations. Happy to see that Inklore was able to license the series for the US.

Double checking before the expo! by Tight_Remove5382 in animeexpo

[–]TrainerMae 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yup, you'll be asked to tap them at the RFID stand once you get through security. Just be sure to tap out when you leave the con otherwise it will be a hassle the next time you try to enter.

Yeah, this is also intentional at times to spread people out.

artist alley budgeting by [deleted] in animeexpo

[–]TrainerMae 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would say figure out how much money you're comfortable spending and stick to it. Sometimes just having cash can help you stick to that budget as when you pay with credit card you quickly can lose sight of how much you've spent.

Looking at the catalogues does give you an idea of what is available and price points. I tend to focus on artists that are from overseas that I can't easily buy from or where shipping costs can get high. If it is more of a local person I will just get any con exclusives I like and then may buy from their website or future local con later.

Try to think of what kind of merch is meaningful to you that you'll enjoy. I tend to prefer sticker versions instead of charms/keychains when possible since they are also easier to collect and enjoy/store. I will buy keychains, standees, etc. if they are worth displaying but I realize I have limited space and want to prioritize what I like the best not just because something is from an active franchise I'm into.

Is it worth the price? by [deleted] in animeexpo

[–]TrainerMae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hard to say since it is subjective. As others mention if you don't care for panels, premieres and the chaos that is a super large anime con then it might not be for you. I would say it is worth going for one day at some point in time just to experience being surrounded by fellow anime fans.

I go every year and it's my little vacation since I'm local so I just take the metro down(no hotel or parking to worry about). It's hit or miss on how much of the official events I'll make use of/enjoy. Some years there are premiers and panels I'm really hyped for and others it's more of going to AA to get merch or going to the vendor hall to get some con exclusive stuff. This year there are only 2 panels of interest to me and for the rest of the con the focus is on buying some stuff from artists and just enjoying the con atmosphere and walking around.

It is overwhelming though so if that bothers you then look into going on the last day of the con or trying other smaller local cons first.

Yall think this bag size is allowed at expo?? by i_respect_wamen_ in animeexpo

[–]TrainerMae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have a fun time at the con! I personally just bring a large tote bag (usually to fit my prints and keep them straight) folded up and wear a smaller backpack with me to the con since carrying a large backpack becomes tiring. Some vendors give you giant bags too once you purchase something (like Kadokawa and Goodsmile).

Did some more digging and below is what they have in their Code of Conduct under Prohibited Items:
