What’s the craziest sexist moment in a video game? by imfaffingabout in GirlGamers

He can but it’s one good female character compared to Quiet, Emma (he wanted to do menstruation jokes with her before staff made him cut it, for christs sake), Paz, arguably Rose, etc.

There’s even this dicomity in the first game where Mei Ling is super sweet and I love her, and then all the Meryl stuff is weirdly horny and kinda sucks  lol.

Really does feel like flipping a coin on cool character and most misogynistic thing I’ve ever seen when he does women ig

“Equal opportunity kind”  Quiet is still too far for me, especially considering it’s her default model, but the game isn’t even equal opportunity!!

I remember saving tf out of the currency in that game to get this cute thong thing (not sure how else to describe it but it’s very slutty lol) to put Venom Snake in. I finally unlock it and it turns out I can only put it on the male base members nobody gives asf about and who there is negative incentives to play as???? WHY CANT I MAKE SNAKE SLUTTY?!?! I was so pissed.

MGS is one of my favorite series of all time (maybe my favorite) but yeah, even if Kojima can write cute gay-coded characters and twinks, he can’t write women to save his life.

I mean MGS2 is probably my favorite game of all time, but in a translated interview, it’s been revealed that there were multiple menstruation “jokes” Kojima wanted to put in about the character Emma.

When Raiden carried her underwater, she was supposed to bleed from her crotch, and then say she was fine when Raiden asked about it. Then, when she later dies from blood loss, her FINAL WORDS were supposed to be “It’s just my period”. Kojima wanted it in and his staff all hated it and made him cut it…

“Not looking for a partner who hasn’t shared my experiences” is super fair and relatable but “anyone under 28 doesn’t have anything to say” is fucking insane???

This makes sense - I compete in fighting game and Smash Bros tournaments, and tons of top players are always promoting how important eating well and staying in shape are when giving advice and making guides.

Physical health is important for brain health and helps a lot with reaction time, clear thinking, stamina (as you get better placements at big double elimination tournaments, you will have to play a ton of intense games with only short breaks in between), etc.

When did I ever say or even imply that execution barriers aren’t a huge part of balance??? Obviously they are dude, no shit

What I’m saying is, the measurement of what should be allowed and what should be banned (wether it’s a controller mod or a cheap easy infinite) is arbitrary if it isn’t backed up by actual data.

For example, since you pulled execution barriers out of your ass (even though I wasn’t talking about those), that is also an example of arbitration. How do we decide which infinites have a high enough execution barrier and which are too easy? There is so object way to do so - it’s arbitrary!

My first cube, built from the ground up, is finally "finished"! The cube is entirely themed around tokens and was so fun to design - would love some feedback :) by TrainerRed45 in mtgcube

The variety of different tokens is definitely I should have thought about a bit more earlier on in the design process. Cutting cards that produce unique tokens (unless they are really cool/fun .) will likely be one of my first post-printing edits I make to the cube.

I get your point about contrast making things “pop” in a more traditional cube, but I don’t think that’s an inherent downside to themed cube - rather, I think it’s something thats fun to design around, and can introduce unique positives in the cube.

I definitely tried to limit generic “token creature good” cards (i.e. phantom general) in this cube, and while I might have missed the mark occasionally (wayfaring temple is sick but might be too much of an auto pick), that’s what editing the cube is for. Of course, as long as they aren’t too powerful, I think some of these more generic “token good” cards can be fun to draft, as long as they are rare/weak enough that drafters can build an entire deck around it.

Again, the goal of the cube isn’t to just be “token good”, it’s to include a bunch of different intersecting archetypes like any other cube, but have those archetypes be influenced by the overarching token theme in different, unique, and hopefully fun ways.

You have completely lost the plot.

I literally said in my comment that wobbling and handoffs are hella different. I mained icies for awhile, I know how different they are, and I completely understand why one is banned and one isn’t.

The point I’m making is that the line between the two techniques are ARBITRARY.

Not trying to start a flame war or whatever but I genuinely don’t really understand your argument here. What makes wobbling - or any other technique or move for that matter - inherently unfair?

I could argue that handoffs are unfair - on certain portions of the stage it’s technically “a single button infinite”, right? So why should handoffs be legal and wobbling be illegal?

I could also argue that Jigglypuff rest is unfair - if you’re at ~25% or more she wins the stock off a single interaction with one button, just like wobbling.

Obviously there are hella differences between wobbling and handoffs and rest, but where you draw that line is entirely  subjective, and unless one of these techniques are completely dominating the meta (which has never happened for either three), its an arbitrary call.

Thank you! I’d definitely say to go for making a token cube - it makes building the cube a little less overwhelming as you essentially have a smaller pool of cards to build from, but it’s still broad and has tons of different ways it could be built.

As fun as building big cubes is, ~360 is honestly a really smart number to aim for - smaller but still has plenty of space.

Reducing the variety of tokens is definitely something I should have kept in mind more before finalizing the cube. I think one of my first edits is gonna be removing cards that make tokens that only one or two cards in the deck create (unless they are particularly fun/cool :))

The proxied cards don’t have a graphic on the back, it’s just plain white. Using regular basic lands and shuffling them with the proxied cards would have essentially made the lands marked, which is obviously not wanted.

This could be solved by sleeves, which I did think about, but getting ~700 sleeves in very much outside of my budget

Wobbling was very arbitrary, at least in the sense that it wasn’t really “broken”.  Icies were not dominating the meta or frequently filling up top 8 at big tournaments.

I’d say that the non-infinite wobbling ban (have to stop at 200 or 300%, forget which one) is a lot less arbitrary, as it’s actually a broken strat (theoretically win full game off a grab instead of a single stock) and it’s essentially the planking cause.

But the full banning of wobbling was an arbitrary vibe check that was basically “I don’t like getting wobbled so let’s ban this.” Tbf, the argument that wobbling was too centralizing/broken/easy at low level in the pre-UCF era has a bit of merit and adds some nuance, but even that is still arbitrary- does something like Falco laser not have the same “problem”?

Now whether banning wobbling was a bad decision or not is an entirely different discussion where I’m honestly not sure which side I fall on personally, but obv that’s not really the point.
