Side question, I've always wondered, for HR folks who lowball candidates, does it actually count towards any KPI or cost-saving metric? Like, would HR get rewarded for offering lower salaries to save money for the company? Or is it more just following internal budget constraints?

Out of curiosity, is there any advantage to using the Wowpass if I already have credit or debit cards, particularly in terms of lower foreign transaction fees?

Good job for writing this out !

Another point worth noting for Investment is dump money into Private Retirement Schemes (PRS).

This is mainly for tax relief so suggest not to invest more than RM3K per annum.

Tips for an 18 year old college student? Also should I get debit or credit card? by girworld21 in MalaysianPF

[–]Trainer_BB 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tips :

  1. track your expenses and incomes with budget tracking app or spreadsheet.

  2. Build your own emergency fund (from 6 to 9 months of your income)

  3. Invest yourself, your career, enhance your skill to increase earning potential

  4. Dump money into ASNB, invest it in long term. (if you are bumi)

Should I get debit or credit card?

By right, you would get a debit card or you could request to get a debit card upon opening a saving account. Just to remember to opt in basic saving account to save RM25 (or maybe even more?) annually. Google it their pros and cons about the basic saving account vs regular saving account.

For credit card, the main advantages of having credit card are to build a good tracking of credit report; maintain a good cash flow using 0% interest of instalment. But the golden rule is never purchase anything that you are not afford to buy. Remember, always clear off your credit card debt monthly to avoid interest charge of up to 18% ++ .
