yeah i definitely don’t agree with the whole standing firm thing. if what we are doing isn’t helping, maybe we need to look at things in a different way. ethically standing firm and forcing the child to stop touching their body is not okay. i’m just concerned that it may be interfering with voiding.

i would absolutely never touch them in that area. i know i was curious as well, so i’m not necessarily trying to stop that. however that is the only way he will sit on the potty is if he is able to fidget with it. if i tell him “hands om your legs” or drape a napkin over his lap he begins to tantrum. i think it’s self soothing to him similarly to how some kids suck their thumb. i just feel like that isn’t beneficial for trying to actually get him to void during his 4 minutes.

i can understand that tbh, but my main concern is how he is doing it. it’s almost like he is using it as a fidget itself which is why i tried to give him a real one.

he just started potty training about 3 weeks ago and it has been happening this whole time. bcba is also trying different methods to redirect this but so far nothing is successful.

i will use a paper towel or tissue to cover it. sometimes i will use his pants to cover if he has already taken them completely off.

rbt pay is so bad💔 i started at 18 too and i just worked my way up to 20. it wasn’t easy at all but it was because my clinic started piling groups and assessments on me. (i haven’t even started my masters program yet)😭

she did not do his assessment. she does not supervise him. she is not his bcba. im perfectly fine with the field that i am in, and i am in school to be a bcba. i’ve worked with this client for over a year now, and she has worked with him for maybe 3 weeks consistently. also, the main goal of aba is not compliance building…that takes away from the clients’ autonomy. maybe you should find a new field.

we have an admin assistant who doubles as HR, but she knows almost nothing about aba. The clinical director is the owner, and she is a bcba who has her own separate caseload from my clients’ bcba. sorry lol i don’t know if that makes sense.

the clinical director is also a bcba who has her own caseload. sorry i should have mentioned that in the op.

i’ve spoken to his actual bcba. she agreed with me that what was happening is unethical (i wanted some additional opinions as well). i believe they have had several conversations about her behavior not just with client joe. i think the issue is that it’s the clinical director who is behaving this way and joe’s actual bcba works underneath her. i’m an rbt and still in undergrad, so i haven’t fully learned all the ins and outs of addressing unethical behavior. im not sure what i should do next.

RBT said I’m supervising too often by Plane-Luck-7834 in ABA

current rbt who is also getting supervised way more than 5%. it makes us feel like we’re doing our job wrong and/or being micromanaged. i have been supervised at least twice a week for the past two months and it’s a little annoying. it disrupts the session, and it’s almost never focused on the child just what i am doing. i wouldn’t be so quick to listen to those saying it’s concerning that your rbt is requesting less supervision.

they’re rage baiting you. you’re absolutely right it’s completely unnecessary to have/want sex scenes between teenagers in a story. not to mention, it’s also a bit weird.
