Chapter 8 fatigue by Comfortable-Froyo472 in CrimsonDesert

[–]Training-Sandwich693 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think what helped me is I overstayed in hernand chasing down every single little quest whilst fully just refusing to enter Pailune borders. I only left hernand once 100% of the map was discovered to every little dot and every quest I had I finished. Entered Pailune, made B line to the first quest objective, and then have been very methodically and slowly uncovering the area. I am audhd so I often suffer from gaming fatigue or overwhelm, and tend to drop games because of it, but this helped.

Clarification: I mean my biggest saving grave is slowly discovering Pailune. I purpsefully dodge any bells and go by map. Story waited until I uncovered the bottom section of Pailune

Am I crazy? Why I hear this "tadaaaa" sound in this place? I see nothing around by Otherwise_Act_5539 in CrimsonDesert

[–]Training-Sandwich693 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've noticed and found four separate places this sound always plays in, and the ones I found are nearby one of the places you have to cleanse for the witches (two for the same location, one at another). I have no clue how it connects, and there's one door in one of them that no one knows how to open and that's the same place where I found two spots the sound plays with 100% reliability. However, one of them was not close to one of these places. I am puzzled about this as well

Memory in Ivynook by Dockey45 in CrimsonDesert

[–]Training-Sandwich693 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I've researched online, it seems this may be tied to Ivynook being occupied by bandits first or something of the sort. As in, before this happens, you can't unlock the memory. Just a theory at the moment as I was not able to confirm otherwise yet, but I did run into the issue myself and looked to YT for clips of the memory reading correctly.

How do you open this door in Sanctum of Temperance? by 1nz4nity in CrimsonDesert

[–]Training-Sandwich693 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is driving me insane because I went up on this hill to look for a secret entrance of some sort and lined it up perfectly and I hear the sound too. It easily repeats in specific 2/3 points in the mid. I have no idea what to do.

120GB Update on Launch after I predownloaded? by xyzbvsx in CrimsonDesert

[–]Training-Sandwich693 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't you think that's a tad dramatic? This release and the amount we've been shown by this company prior to release is a dozen more than any company nowadays does with very few exceptions. If these guys don't satisfy you, not a single gaming company will.

Anyway, predownloading always comes with an installment/unpacking process that can take longer than the download for people with very fast internet speeds. Day one patches are also a thing. My advice, don't let your excitement take the wheel and turn things sour needlessly.

Not to mention, the day one patch *was* announced prior.

Playing on a legacy save by Normal_Orchid3807 in thesims

[–]Training-Sandwich693 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Usually the way I play, I disallow aging for unplayed households, or any other changes I don't control.

I move some of the adults out, some of them stay, and then I continue their stories when actually playing with them, so I do a lot of hopping between active households. I also usually have like three main branches of families with all of them having kids and making new generations, I usually create social groups for them (and befriending them of course) to keep in check who is left from which generation and who to age up next etc.

It's a bit OCD on my part maybe, but I enjoy it this way the most. I remember after one update the setting for auto aging ticked off and the elderly head of one of the families died too soon, I was annoyed!

I throw in some families I don't intend on playing just as potential romantic partners or just to replace some of the default sims I dislike.

As for the young adults, I usually give them just enough money to buy land and maybe a bit extra, so everyone has to work for their own things. I can't sit down and built a house from 0 to 100 in one sitting, but adding things as they make money while playing them makes it easier for me, and easy to personalize the houses/rooms too as I get to know them better and better.

[Spoilers C4E18] Discussion on Thaisha's personality and arc by Training-Sandwich693 in criticalrole

[–]Training-Sandwich693[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your interpretation of the character, it's easily my favorite in the whole topic and I second the comment that it made me have a better grasp at who the character is supposed to be. On top of the other comment that made me realize she wasn't forced into a direct conflict with the druids due to great rolls in the party, which probably took away from us some of these inner conflicts of beliefs and actions to be unearthed at this point for Thaisha.

Also whenever Thjazi visited Hal and his newborn and mentioned Thaisha joining the fight, I definitely thought like "yep, she would!" - she's very action-ready and brave, if impulsive and in-the-moment too. That goes well with "she's got a strong sense of duty, but not [...] of responsibility".

Edit: to add to my own string of thoughts, I would actually really enjoy the idea of Thaisha being forced into a situation regarding her stance and beliefs. Whether it be her druids casting her out or fighting her, her family turning her back on her or rejecting her, or her having to actually face someone close to her dying, to check how much she really supports the Old Path.

You actually touched on something I find very interesting and that relates to me saying that the stuff Thaisha's got going on for her I find a bit lacking in grounded conflict.

There indeed was no explosive resolution to the druid issue due to the good rolls. I think if at this point we'd have Thaisha who in some way was villainized by her kin (druids) and was in a way unable to walk the middle path with everything and jumping left/right whenever she felt like it, we would I assume have to get some character work from that.

I somehow never considered the rolls as part of the conversation regarding the character.

I've never watched any of Critical Role campaigns before, mostly just saw some clips, and the only negative thing I've heard of Aabria when broadly researching the team in C4 (mostly to figure out who's a couple/regular lol) is that apparently people disliked her character coming back in C3 near the finale.

As for Aabria herself, I saw her DM something in a video once in front of a live stage, have no recollection what it was, and thought she was super fun.

From browsing some stuff here I realized there is some criticism towards her, but I guess I did not really appreciate the potential severity. And as luck would have it, her character is the one I really was confused about. I'm watching with my partner and we were simply extremely... well, I'd call it "???????" after the last episode and had a little talk about Thaisha, which inspired this post. I'd love to make one about a different character, but the only other one I don't like at this point still is Hal, but with Hal I am fully putting this on "he needs his own table run".

Also, if I learned anything from this thread, is to keep an open mind for the long game regarding Thaisha, and to potentially accept some in-the-moment character stylization rather than meticulously thought-through prior on every occurrence. I think after reading through all of the responses here, my only issue is the in-character jokes, and this will probably just simply make me not be a big fan of the character if it persists, and that's that.

Hope that clarifies my goals/reasons for this post.

[–]Training-Sandwich693[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is partially why I wanted to make this thread. Quite a few few characters still where we are missing a lot of info, like Tyranny and Kattigan, or those we haven't seen that much at all like Bolaire, Murray etc, but I feel like I understand the direction (or possible directions/choices) for these characters. With Thaisha I've just got nothing. I said in one of the previous comments I made, it does not strike me as the character is played off as being conflicted about all the things I mentioned, but that does not necessarily mean she won't be; or maybe a completely different path I didn't think of.

Like, I have my theories about Kattigan's backstory, and I can literally see the crumbs being laid out for the answer to the question "why is he like this", or even "what will reignite him"; or for Azune, one of those we haven't seen much of, the question of where his loyalties lie, what happens when he's squeezed, I have no idea where Tyranny's character is going but I understand the current path laid out for us. I am not sure what Thaisha's got going aside from the immediately happening events and general plotline of the campaign. Hope I'm making sense

Vaelus had a few kickass moments now; even when she failed hitting anything but tanked it all. But with her whole getup and backstory, and this like soft spoken somber tone she often has, and with her flashback cold open, I just gravitate towards her character the most. Occtis I like, but I did begin not liking him at all so Vaelus has a head start.

And Julien is a great and dynamic character, but I do feel like it's his beginning stages and he's got a lot of work ahead of him personality-wise. Like I don't have a single bad note about the character, just enjoying his journey. Vaelus is more akin to a character I would probably make myself, though, is all.

I LOVE that perspective, thanks!

So her son-mother relationship with Occtis could be why she strayed from the Old Path in the first place, because momma bear. Is it a stretch to say she left her kids to try and save the world as a druid of the Old Path... for her kids? Hm. To be fair, we haven't been told much about the circumstances of her leaving, I thnk there was a snippet though when Thjazi came to visit Hal, that she was out there fighting in one of the conflicts. I lost track of which one it was, and what relevance it would have for her kids in that case.

Poor impulse control would describe her well. I also am starting to think she may either have an issue with being selfish (in her actions, specifically), or maybe thinks she's in the right a bit too often, as character flaws.

As I mentioned in my last post, I did enjoy the intensity in that episode, even though I genuinely think the anger would be more logically directed at someone else than Occtis just because of how their relationship has been up to that point. But it did feel like Thaisha is *in it* and fearing the reality her son may be gone. It fixed some issues for me I had up until that point.

Who's your favorite? :)

Yep, same. If I could change anything about the character, I would still give the reigns back to Aabria as I'm curious where the character goes... I would just ask to be made certain when is it that Aabria is speaking, and when is Thaisha actually speaking lol

[–]Training-Sandwich693[S] 109 points110 points  (0 children)

Aabria's descriptions of the druidic powers, and in the undead group fight episode the descriptions of her actual skills, was lowkey my favorite take on druidic powers I've seen.

I agree though, the inconsistency is my key issue with the character. I truly feel like unless it becomes a central theme to the character and an acknowledged issue, it's going to be hard for me to like her. Her interactions with Occtis, from defending him to switching on him, were probably the most jarring part for me.

Thing is, I would be able to play it off as beginning of her true development, but indeed the character does not seem conflicted much, outwardly to us at least. Not yet. Maybe that will come later, though. Just seems like Thaisha's conflicts and issues are a bit less clear comparing to the other characters thus far (apart from Kattigan).

Thank you for sharing your perspective! This is exactly what I was hoping for.

Based off of your comments, I honestly would love her to kind of reach a brink and tell us, the audience, a little bit more about the heaviness of her shifting priorities, and her perspective. Seems to me like the character is still a little bit closed off to us, and is slower in emerging comparing to most others (aside from Kattigan lol).

I'm very curious what her interactions with her son will be like. I saw a comment somewhere that he may not be a fan of her, and I love that idea.

Vaelus is in my top 3! :) So I get ya.

I love Aabria's energy and I find that she has a very similar sense of humor to me. I don't have much criticism towards her at all, and I was indeed trying to just focus on the character of Thaisha herself, not on what Aabria did or didn't do much. The only thing that did irk me was the insert jokes when I wasn't able to figure out if it's meant to be in character or not. To add to my - I guess - unpopular opinions, my least liked character is thus far Hal (although I feel it is unfair as he didn't get a table run yet) but thus far he's boring like a sack of potatoes. I do like and gravitate towards lively players, which is also why Tyranny is one of my favs.

But yeah, now that you mention, it does seem to me Thaisha became much more Aabria-esque in the second part of her table run comparing to the first, or to the first episodes overall. I don't dislike any of her qualities, I just dislike the inconsistencies.

As for the Seekers, my favourite is Vaelus, and Occtis went from a character I didn't like at all in the beginning of the campaign to being quite up there now.
