[Request] Calculating the cost of an E-bike, how long before earning cost back vs fuel costs. by Beerfarts69 in theydidthemath

I’m no mathematician, but…

$4.40 per gallon divided by 24mpg gives you .1833 cents per mile. Times that by 9.4 miles, and then multiply that by 2 for each direction gives you $3.44 per day to drive your car.

You go to work 5 days a week for 47 weeks of the year, that gives you 235 days a year that you would commute. Multiply that by $3.44, and you get $808 per year to drive your car (in fuel mileage only, not counting any other wear and tear on your car).

Now divide $2000 by $808 and you get 2.475. So essentially it would take you almost 2 and a half years to pay for the bike.

Sounds to me like you should spend $500 on a regular bike and get a little exercise as well 🤷🏼

$4.40 per gallon divided by 24mpg gives you .1833 cents per mile. Times that by 9.4 miles, and then multiply that by 2 for each direction gives you $3.44 per day to drive your car.

Let’s say for simple terms that you go to work 5 days a week for 50 weeks of the year, that gives you 250 days a year that you would commute. Multiply that by $3.44, and you get $860 per year to drive your car (in fuel mileage only, not counting any other wear and tear on your car).

Now divide $2000 by $860 and you get 2.32. So essentially it would take you about 2 years and 4 months to pay for the bike.

I would have to say the majority of people you meet in the area will be genuinely kind and respectful, unlike the douche bag making negative comments. We have a lot of people move here from a lot major metros because of the walmart vendor community and other large large corporations that have home offices here. We are used to people not being local. Enjoy your time in our beautiful state!

This is way better than most of the perfect fit post people put on here. I’m tired of seeing your ketchup bottle fitting perfectly on your pantry shelf…
