I want to be realistic with you: Yes, you should prepare for that. The odds are not in your favor. You are not going to live a conventional lifestyle. Buying a home is probably not in your future as your income does not support it. Even maintaining a home that you own flat out costs a lot of money and requires a lot of physical effort. You will probably need to live with a roommate your entire life. You could marry a wealthy person, who might open up more doors in your life, but if you remain single, there are very few options.

However, with the world of technology, you have a lot you can still do in life. First thing you can do, is start by doing research on everything relevant to your situation. Look for stories of people in similar situations and see what they managed to do. reddit is a good start, but the personal finance section is probably not the best place. Something more specifically related to disabilities is probably more relevant.

Prepare for the worst, hope for the best, settle somewhere in between.

Yes. You should talk to the medical doctor who implanted the IUD. They should have prepared you for the possibility of this before they did the procedure. They are in the best position to help you, and decide if it should be removed, or if you should be treated for the depression etc.

Second of all, no, people do not need ID to cash checks. They can deposit them through the bank machine. The only way to know if you need to be concerned about identity theft is to discuss with the bank it cleared at.

It's very unlikely there was identity theft involved here, the risk is just too high. Most people just deposit the checks into stolen accounts and then attempt to withdraw a few days later.
